We have recently migrated from 25 to 47. Here are the pointers we had to work on:
- Move the code in right modules based on https://experienceleague.adobe.com/en/docs/experience-manager-cloud-service/content/implementing/dev...
- We are updating dispatcher as separate activity than the remaining project. This module needs in-depth involvement to segregate in right structure and files
- Update dependencies in pom.xml
- You might also have old versions of dependencies like ACS Commons etc. Consider updating them separate from Archtype update
- Update java 8->java 11 as a separate activity

The reason why I am suggesting to execute many upgrades separately is to reduce the number of parameters changing in the system
It is also a good time to investigate and clean up redundant stuff.
