Hi there,
we are in the process of rolling out a new custom eCommerce engine in conjunction with AEM. What are the best practices for localised product descriptions ? Are these considered part of PIM (system of record: eCommerce) or rather part of experience management/marketing (system of record: AEM) ?
It would be interesting to understand how this is being handled with existing eCommerce integrations such as hybris, and what the pro's and con's for either approach are.
Thx Nick

Hi Monohusche,
I would be needing some more detail to answer your question for the localized product descriptions: Do you want to use the same product for multi-lingual (en,fr, jp) sites?.
Are these considered part of PIM (system of record: eCommerce) or rather part of experience management/marketing (system of record: AEM) ?
It actually depends on how you want to design our eCommerce application. The ideal case is that you maintain all the products & catalog information in different systems, for instance
In case, you don't want to cache at the AEM side, then you have to have web services to fetch product details for every page request.
Pros : hybris is a matured platform where business gets all the basic necessities for the eCommerce application.
Cons: I have not explored any other system. The only comparative analysis could tell us.
