Why is it not possible to edit pdf file content after uploading it as asset? Not even overlaying OOTB will help?

Hi All,

Basically why pdf content cannot be edited?

Ain't there any aem configuration or overlaying technique which would suffice this?

You can not edit PDF in browser or some web app unless it has PDF code. PDF can only be edited in Adobe Acrobat (not Reader) or similar softwares.

Thanks

As of now AEM does not have PDF editing capability, we may see such things in future releases.

You can explore AEM desktop app Adobe Experience Manager Desktop App  via which yo ucan open PDF in their native applications on desktop, edit and save and changes would be updated in AEM.

Thanks

Hi Gaurav,

What do you mean by 'pdf code' that you've mentioned here. Do you mean that there's a concern coming because we deal with active content of pdf ? and that's why pdf editing is not allowed by aem?

AEm supports PDF via some library and that library provides set of functionality. To edit PDF you need application which can understand format like to edit Video you need to have some app which understands video editing.

Thanks
