Hi, we have an SMS message where count of Success is greater than count of Messages Processed. What could be the possible reasons?

If the count of Success is greater than the count of Messages Processed for an SMS delivery in your AC platform, here could be the potential reasons:

  • Target Mapping Settings (Proofs or Seed Addresses): If the delivery is configured to include proofs or seed addresses in the main target through the target mapping settings, these additional recipients may be counted as successful deliveries but not reflected in the main processing count. So check the delivery logs of your SMS delivery and see if there any seed addresses or proof profiles included and does removing those count help to tally your initial processed and success count.
  • Multipart SMS Handling: When an SMS exceeds the character limit, it is split into multiple parts. Each part may be being counted separately as a success, leading to a higher success count than the processed count. So try to validate your delivery logs and see if there are duplicate sms addresses where delivery is sent and does that delivery message contains sms text in multi parts.
  • Retry Mechanisms: Adobe Campaign Classic may automatically retry sending failed messages. If these retries succeed, they can increase the success count without increasing the processed count, especially if only the original attempt is logged as processed.
  • Delivery Log Inconsistencies: There could be issues in the delivery logs where successes are logged but not all are reflected in the processed count, possibly due to system errors or logging discrepancies. You can then try to recompute the indicators by right-clicking the relevant delivery in the Adobe Campaign explorer and selecting Actions > Recompute delivery and tracking indicators
