Email ID of a visitor

Avatar

Hi all,

I have a system where the Email ID of a visitor is captured and stored in a customer database.

AAM is connected to Adobe Campaign. I use Adobe Profiles and Audiences Core.

Adobe Campaign needs to use this email ID to send email to that visitor.

Kindly suggest how this Email ID reaches Adobe Campaign.

Considering that Email ID is PII, will it not be allowed to be stored inside AAM?

Even if it is allowed, how will it pass from customer database to AAM in real time or batch mode?

Appreciate all your responses.

Thanks,

Rama.

Rama,

Adobe Campaign can be integrated with AAM using two IDs, you can use either of them :
1. Marketing Cloud ID (MID), that is a device ID.

2. DPUUID also known as CRM ID.

So if you want to create segments using a list of CRM users, then you can ask AAM client care and Campaign client care to set up the integration with DPUUID.

If you use an alpha numeric ID for CRM ID, then that will be used as DPUUID, if it is email address that you consider CRM ID, then that will be used in hashed form.

Hi,

I am thinking of two different answers:

1. Since the Email ID is a PII data, it should not be stored in AAM.

2. It could be stored in AAM, but it should be hashed.

AAM has a facility to import from CRM. But could we import from a database as well?

How it should be automatically hashed, while importing it from a database?

How to unhash it for using in Adobe Campaign?

Appreciate all your responses.

Thanks,

Rama.

Hi Rama,

AAM does not collect PII that is correct and email address is a PII.

When you onboard the CRM data if you have a unique CRM ID or Customer ID that you can mention in the onboarded file, and that is usually not an email address.

If you use email address as the only unique user id to identify users in your database, then it is recommended to hash those email addresses and then onboard.

In integration of AAM and Adobe Campaign, AAM's function is to collect, and segregate data, that means creating segments, and then pushing that data to Campaign.

Thanks Varun for responding.

Let us say that we use email address as the only unique user id to identify users in the database.

How it should be automatically hashed, while importing it from the database?

How to unhash it for using in Adobe Campaign?

Appreciate all your responses.
