Would love to get a perspective on best practices regarding segmentation and creating segments. I have my Analytics, Audience Manager, and Campaign connections established to share data, my question: Is it better to create the segments in AAM and share? or better to create in Analytics and share?
an example scenario: I would like to tag visitors of a specific web page as "Webpage Visitors" to be able to send them email campaigns later on, but also create reports based on page visits.
What would be the best practice for creating the segment?
Thanks

Hi Steve,
Thanks for replying.
Could you check in AAM UI > Data Sources and see of you have Adobe Campaign MID as well as Declared ID data source?
If yes, then you can create traits and segments in AAM and always link them to Adobe Campaign MID Data sources.
To get audience in Campaign run the import workflow. Check these docs:
For ACS:
For Campaign Classic:
Feel free to post any further questions.
Thanks,

Hi Steve,
Have you set up both types of integrations? MID and Declared ID in Campaign?
After both types of integrations have been set up and all prequisites are met, then it depends upon your use case.
In case of Analytics Segment, I would ask these questions:
Do you want to include historical website visitors as well in your Segment? Are you fine with the delay that it takes to onbaord the data from AA to AAM and then further export to Campaign?
If yes, then you can create segment in AA and share with experience cloud.
In case of AAM segments, I would ask:
Do you want to target visitors those will be part of segment going forward (post creation if segment in AAM), and not historical data?
Updated audience will reach Adobe Campaign every 24 hours. (faster than AA segments)
If yes, then in that case, you can create segments in AAM.

Thanks, that is very helpful.
To answer your question, I dont care about historical data, so with that being said, as i understood it, the recommendation is to set up the segment in AAM.
Question: Do I need MID and Declared ID in Campaign? I currently see this one config: Recipient - Visitor ID, target: Recipient, Rec Key: trackingLog/SourceID......I am assuming this is the Declared ID part?
Context: I am picking up this configuration from someone else, i was not present when Adobe helped set up the configuration.
