Sum top 5

Avatar

Level 2

I have a table where I'm showing 5 rows (top 5). Is there a way to sum the % of just those top 5 rows? My ultimate goal is to show that the top 5 displayed dimensions make up X% of total without having to manually calculate the individual % outside of Adobe.

You could show this a a separate table. Make a segment where the dimension = any of the top 5 (or you can define it dimension = top #1 OR dimension = top #2 OR etc...). Have this in a column and the total as another column then create a calculated metric with the segmented metric over the total. Biggest drawback of this method is that if the top 5 change often then there isn't a way to dynamically change this metric to accommodate. Unfortunately there isn't a TOP function in workspace that would allow for a dynamic calculation.

Unfortunately, as @KI_Admin said, there is no "top items" filter... this is something I know has been requested (it was more of a show me only items above "X" or below "Y" from the metric, but in theory, if that were to be added, having a filter for top Z items could be another option.

Now, here is a potentially creative way to show the values... on your Donut Chart, you can limit the number of items... so basically, if you were to create a donut chart and limit it in the settings to "6" items (top 5 actual, then all others are collapsed into other)

Then you can see how much % the non-top items account for...

While you can't really use this calculate a visual for the top 5, people can do mental math to understand that the top 5 take up 100% - "Other %"

In my example, my top 5 account for 94.6%
