Segments not visible in Virtual Report Suit in Report Builder

Avatar

Hi All,

I am trying to create data blocks using new report builder interface.

I have few segments created in Adobe Analytics virtual report suit.

However I am not able to see those segments in the report builder if i am using the same virtual report suit.

Note: the segments are created by me or shared with me.

Let me know if anyone else facing same issue and is there any solution to this.

Thank you in advance!

Hi @Bhushan_Mahajan ,

If a virtual report suite segment isn't showing in Adobe Report Builder, ensure you're using the right tool and that the virtual report suite is not configured for component curation, which restricts its use to Analysis Workspace.

Here's a breakdown of potential issues and solutions:

  1. Virtual Report Suite Component Curation:
  • What it is:

Component curation allows you to selectively include or exclude dimensions, metrics, segments, and date ranges within a virtual report suite, making it accessible only in Analysis Workspace.

  • Impact on Report Builder:

If component curation is enabled, the virtual report suite is not accessible in Report Builder, Data Warehouse, Activity Map, or the Analytics Reporting API.

  • Check:

Navigate to Analytics > Components > Virtual report suites > [Your Virtual Report Suite] > Components tab to see if "Enable Customization of Virtual report suite components" is checked. If it is, you won't be able to use the virtual report suite in Report Builder.

  1. Report Builder Limitations:
  • Virtual Report Suites with Report Time Processing and Variable Customization: These features are not currently supported in Adobe Report Builder.
  • Check: If your virtual report suite uses report time processing or variable customization, it might not be compatible with Report Builder.
  1. Permissions and Access:
  • "Curated Report Suite Access":

If you have curated report suite access (meaning you have access to specific report suites), you might not see newly created suites until they are added to your account.

  • "All Report Access":

Users with "All Report Access" can see all report suites, including newly created ones.

  • Admin Privileges:

If you're an admin, ensure your account is set up for access to all suites, dimensions, and metrics.

  • Solution:

If you have curated permissions, work with your admin to grant access to new suites or request "All Report Access".

  1. Other Considerations:
  • Virtual Report Suites are Not Shared:

"Sharing" is done through groups and permissions, not by sharing the virtual report suite itself.

  • Segments and Adobe Experience Cloud:

Segments cannot be published to Adobe Experience Cloud from a virtual report suite for personalization and targeting. Users who want to publish segments need access to the source report suite.

  • Report Suite ID:

Ensure you are using the correct report suite ID for your virtual report suite when creating data requests in Report Builder.

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Verify Component Curation: Check if the virtual report suite has component curation enabled.
  1. Check Permissions: Ensure you have the necessary permissions to access the virtual report suite and its components.
  2. Confirm Report Builder Compatibility: Verify that the virtual report suite doesn't use unsupported features like report time processing or variable customization.
  3. Check Report Suite ID: Make sure you are using the correct report suite ID in your Report Builder requests.
  1. Contact Adobe Support: If you continue to have issues, contact Adobe Support for assistance.

Here are key reasons why a segment might not be available in Report Builder:

  1. Segment Scope & Processing – Some segments use processing rules, dimensions, or metrics that are not supported in Report Builder.
  2. Calculated Metrics Dependency – If a segment relies on calculated metrics that are not available in Report Builder, it may not appear.
  3. Segment Permissions – Even if a segment is shared in Workspace, it may not have permissions set for Report Builder access.
  4. Component Availability – Some VRS configurations restrict access to certain dimensions or metrics in Report Builder.

To check compatibility, try applying the segment in Workspace first, refresh Report Builder components, and ensure you are using a supported Virtual Report Suite. If the segment still doesn’t appear, it may not be usable in Report Builder.
