Renaming Virtual Report Suite IDs

Avatar

Level 1

Hi,

I know it's impossible to change report suite id's. However is this also true for virtual report suite id's? I don't see any options to change it inside the virtual report suite settings. Are these based on the original name when they are created or how are these decided?

Thanks,
Axel

Hi @AxelAe1

Virtual Report Suites as such do not really have an ID like the "normal" report suites.

To my knowledge, all you can change is their name and description.

Cheers from Switzerland!

Hi @AxelAe1 ,

I believe you are referring to the ID starting with "vrs_" which is a unique ID for each VRS. This ID cannot be changed once VRS is saved. This ID is generated as a concatenated string like vrs_tenantID_[cleaned VRS name].

You can create a new VRS to get a different ID but even then you can only change the last part of the ID which is created based on the name you have provided for VRS at the time of VRS creation. First two parts of this ID will always remain same for a given org

Cheers!

Report Suite IDs (RSIDs) cannot be changed once created. However, Virtual Report Suites (VRS) work differently.

There is no option to modify the VRS ID. Unlike standard Report Suites, you can rename a Virtual Report Suite in the UI, but this does not change its underlying VRS ID.The VRS ID remains tied to its original parent Report Suite and structure.

Since you cannot modify the VRS ID, the only way to get a different one is to:

  • Create a new Virtual Report Suite with the desired settings.
  • Update any references (bookmarks, dashboards, API calls, etc.) to use the new VRS.
