Get Row Minus the Next Row

We have the built-in Visit Number dimension on our website and want to create a histogram showing the most common numbers of visits. With the way this metric works, you are counted for each visit number up until your last visit: if you visited once, you would be one tally mark under Visit Number 1, if you visited three times you would be one tally mark under Visit Number 1, Visit Number 2, and Visit Number 3.

I want to create a metric that calculates just the highest visit numbers. This should be pretty easy to do by subtracting the total of Visit Number 2 from Visit Number 1, 3 from 2 and so on and so on down the line, basically Cell - Cell [+1] but I can't find a way to reference row indices in the metric maker. Ideas?

@pthatch1 You can use "Visit Number" dimension and use this dimension and you can create a histogram as per requirement

Create segment for each visit numbers and use them in calculated metrics.

Also why not use the default visit number report ? https://experienceleague.adobe.com/docs/analytics/components/dimensions/visit-number.html?lang=en

Hi Alexis (and Vani) - my understanding of the Visit Number dimension is that is not just the maximum visit number achieved by an individual visitor, but is incremented for each visit. So someone who visited once would be counted once under Visit Number 1, and someone who visited three times would be +1 on Visit Number 1, +1 on Visit Number 2, and +1 on Visit Number 3. In the case that there were only those 2 visitors, in my imaginary scenario, Visit Number 1 would = 2, Visit Number 2 would = 1, and Visit Number 3 would = 1.

What I'm looking for a is a metric where Visit Number 1 would = 1, Visit Number 2 would = 0, and Visit Number 3 would = 1, reflecting the maximum visit number achieved by each visitor.

Am I mistaken in my understanding of this dimension?

I did end up creating segments for each Visit Number and using metrics to calculate each individual "row" but it would be great if there was a more intuitive way to do it.
