Data Sources allow negative value

I try to import a negative value, under amount event column by using data source. 

I used ($xxx.00), but it didn't work. 

How do you import a negative value in data source

1. The numbers should be formatted as digits. For example, -10, -10.9, -1000.99; but not $10.00

2. The corresponding custom event should be configured with either numeric or currency type
