Cross Device Tracking in Adobe Analytics

Hi All,

Please let me introduce myself first, I am Jakub working for Deloitte Digital, previously I worked for 2DataFish and I had briefly spoke to you via email. I have a few questions to ask if you don’t mind helping me.

I am setting up Analytics (deploying via DTM) for a client and one of the requirements is cross device analysis as the SC code will be across different devices(on all extracting memberID). I have read a few articles but I am still not clear on how to do it.

http://analyticsdemystified.com/adobe-analytics/linking-authenticated-visitors-across-devices-siteca...

Challenges I have in my mind:

  1. Can you change the s.visitorID only for one report suite? If so what wold be the best approach
  2. What about if the member ID is not set on that page – example a use goes to page A – not authenticated (one beacon is sent to the “local report suite"), then goes to page B and gets authenticated (two beacons are sent, one to the “local” report suite and second one into the authenticated report suite), then goes back to the page A where the memberID is not set…would that still work or would it break?
  3. I have also created a Global report suite so does mean that if the user gets authenticated I will be sending 3beacons? (Local report suite, Global report suite, Authenticated report suite)
  4. Can I use DTM instead of VISTA rules to send the traffic to the authenticated report suite?

I am sure I have not thought it through completely, please if you have any docs/advice I could go through that would be amazing. Anything really would help me at this stage.

Thanks again for your help.

Cheers,

HI Jakub,

I will try to answer your questions but let me first share the documentation on Cross Device Visitor Identification first. Here you go - https://marketing.adobe.com/resources/help/en_US/sc/implement/xdevice_visid.html

You may find some of the answers there itself.

Thanks!
