I would like a real-time streaming API to be made a available for consumption. A streaming API should be able to provide a firehose of filtered analytics data via a continuous open data contection. By it's nature a streaming API is lossy (in that if client does not gather and aggregate the data in their app then that data is not made available via that API again). The API simply streams filtered analytics data that is being collected at that point in time.
Datasift.com have a similar technology for social media counts I would love to see this API approach available for SiteCatalyst Data.
Use cases
- Customers can build their own real-time services off the SiteCatalyst Firehose. You want real-time video stats consume the data via the API and build an interface.
- Customers could use the data to roll their own personalisation and targetting solutions off this data
- Customers could use the stream as a way of debug and monitoring that the correct tags are present on pages
