Mobile Device Classification

After just getting of the phone with Client Care and talking with a number of different Adobe Analytics representatives I became aware that there's currently no information available on how mobile devices are classified as Mobile vs. Tablet.

Using the user agent string devices are categorized as either one or the other in the Adobe database, but it is not specified whether or not the breakpoints are established based on screen size and what that size is.

In a time when phablets are becoming more common this information should be available to allow us to answer these questions when they come up.

Adding onto this... data associated to a mobile device by your 3rd party integration with Device Atlas should be set with associations for that point in time and not be a classification.

I've had analysts presenting time over time reporting that keeps adding time onto reporting and are finding counts change and being questioned by the business as to why this is.

When counts for the same criteria change with no other conditions being applied... this just doesn't look good all round.

thanks!

Yes please.. as an agency, we have to deal with this headache all the time Smiley Sad .  Clients are constantly asking us to clarify for them these details and we never get a straight answer from Adobe Smiley Sad

At a minimum, I would like for there to be a whitepaper or online doc entry (that is kept up-to-date) with this info.  Ideally I would like for there to be an interface that lists the rules/buckets, and ability to alter it (e.g. create our own additional buckets, alter default bucket rules, etc..)
