Fallout report by dimension

Hi Adobe Team,

I want to submit a product requirement (Fallout report by dimension) which I believe would be a great help for lots of customers.

At present we view reports / fallout report at overall level or segmented level but if we have to compare across multiple values in a dimension (e.g., Multiple values in Operating System dimension) then we have to create multiple segment which is quite slow and error prone. Having a feature in which we can add dimension as a column header (just like pivot) will greatly ease the usage.

Thanks for the idea - just to make sure I'm understanding correctly - do you want the ability to drop a full dimension (not dimension item) on the fallout legend so that it creates segments out of the top 5 (like Freeform uses the top 5 dimension items)?  If so, that is a good idea and I like it.  Would it be just as easy to drill into a specific dimension in the left rail (by clicking on the arrow), and then hand-picking the ones you want and dropping them into the fallout legend?  This you should be able to do today and it will auto-create segments as you drop them in (you don't have to use the segment builder).

Thanks Brandon,

I quite appreciate the prompt response, this shows why you guys are market leader .

First, let me try to build case with some data (in case that's helpful). In AppId dimension we store App version (e.g., Android 123, 124, 125, 126 etc..) so for further description I will be relying on dimension AppId

I was thinking in two aspects:

1) If you drop full dimension then top 5 dimension items are picked, (e.g., If we choose AppId and top 5 dimension items Android 123,124,125 etc.. are picked)

2) If you create a segment out of dimension then its subitems are picked (e.g., I create segment AppId = 120 or AppId = 124)

When we draw a Freeform Panel (say Fallout image attached) and based on grain I choose to slice (1 or 2 above) we end up in comparing different items. In case 1 we end up in comparing Android 123,124,125 etc.. and In case 2 we end up in comparing 120 and 124.

I tried handpicking based on small arrow of dimension but it again gives the cumulative and not the comparison

I understand sometimes idea can take couple of discussions to form a concrete shape. Would be more than happy to discuss it further, in case not able to explain it properly

Himanshu

Thanks for the detail!  I think I'm getting closer to understanding - I believe what you're asking for is to drop a dimension on the fallout viz (ie, right by the "All Visits" legend series label), and it would create the top 5 items as 5 different segments (and thus 5 different fallout colors on the same viz) - is that correct?  If so, I think this is a good suggestion and we will consider it for an upcoming release.

As a temporary workaround, how many different app ids are you hoping to compare?  If it's about 5, you can fairly easily drag over each dimension item one by one onto the fallout viz legend (ie, right by the "All Visits" legend series label), and it will create a segment on each drop.  You should be able to get your 5 fairly quickly.
