Adobe Experience Manager Guides

I have a user that as been added to AEM through AD integration.  They are in a group that has been assigned access to the dev instance as an author. Their name is not in the User Management Table in AEM Guides and I cannot add them. Further, I cannot seem to assign them rights to create topics and maps which is what I ultimately want to do. Any advice?

Currently, I use Adobe RoboHelp 2015 to distribute IT Disaster Recovery documentation. While I edit HTML files with Dreamweaver, the majority of the DR info is stored throughout 1000s of Word files stored in a network folder structure. The SMEs edit those Word info with the info they need to restore their system if there's been a disaster. I link all of those SME-edited Word files to my RoboHelp project - when the SME makes a change, the icon next to the linked Word file in RoboHelp changes its color from Green to Yellow so I know that it's time to re-publish the RoboHelp as a browser-based output.I have been seeing "AEM Guides" everywhere in Adobe marketing - just got the invite to the conference in Las Vegas! - but I don't understand what it is. I'm looking for some simple answers to what I hope are some simple questions. Specifically:-- Is AEM Guides a replacement for traditional Help Authoring Tools (HAT) like RoboHelp?-- What are the output options, meaning, could I use this

Using Native PDF in Guides in Cloud. I have page numbering working fine in footer.Bookmap has:   Frontmatter, renders to 5 pages   Body, renders to 10 pages   Backmatter. renders to 5 pagesI restart page numbering after Frontmatter, so on page 6. Paging in footer shows page 6 of 20, 7 of 20, etc.Last page shows page 15 of 20. Obviously, I don't want that because it looks like there are 5 pages missing. Native PDF is not resetting the total page count when the page number is reset. Is this a bug or is there something I need to do? 

In the Assets > Properties view, DITA content doesn't preview like it does for images. Should something be displaying here? And if not, it would be nice to get that preview working for DITA content.In the Assets view, when you click on a DITA file to preview it, the content doesn't scroll down even though a scrollbar is present. Only the top section of the content displays. Is that scrollbar supposed to be working?

In the settings of a template in Native PDF, AEM Guides Cloud there are a number of standard pages: TOC, Glossary, Citations, Empty Pages, Chapters & Topics.These are referred to by the bookmap in the following way:​​  <booklists>     <glossarylist></glossarylist>     <toc></toc></booklists> I want to enable a new page in the templates called "blankpage". It will be a plt file the same as the others and I want to refer to it in my map within the booklists tag as below:​<booklists>     <glossarylist></glossarylist>     <blankpage></blankpage>     <toc></toc></booklists> I understand that I need to customize Native PDF​. I want to create and edit native PDF templates. I am following this guide:Create and customize Native PDF templates | Adobe Experience ManagerHowever, my admin is asking what permissions need to be granted so that I will see the Templates button on the Output tab. Thanks!

If a DITA map is re-translated, any saved baselines are lost for that language. (All saved source language baselines remain.) Is that the intended behavior? Shouldn't saved baselines remain available?

I am able to create a review task for a topic in AEM Guides, cloud. No email is sent to the reviewer that is listed in the project.No email is sent to the owner of the review task. How do I enable this in AEM Cloud?

What are the out-of-the-box audit trail features or capabilities available in AEM Guides and Assets? Specifically, in the context of an audit, what tools or features does Guides or Assets provide to track actions like authoring, editing, publishing and timestamps?  I'm aware that by opening an individual map or topic, I can view the version history to find this information. However, I'm looking for a way to generate a report or  use a feature that consolidates this data without having to open each file individually. Is there an out-of-the-box solution for this in AEM?  Additional context: I'm seeking info on features or capabilities to showcase AEM's out-of-the-box audit capabilities for demonstrating transparency to auditors. Specifically, I want to highlight how AEM can provide detailed info about content changes and user actions for compliance and control purposes. Thank you!

Hey fellas, I am exploring at a project which involves migration from Madcap Flare which is the current documentation platform to AEM Guides.I have not worked on a DITA based migration project before so would appreciate your inputs as to the pitfalls and things to consider. Also, has anyone worked on a migration project for technical documentation to AEM Guides from other CCMS solutions?Any blog reference, link would be highly appreciated! @divrajsingh, @prashantpa, @sschnelbach 

Hi,I have previously posted this question in another community subsection https://experienceleaguecommunities.adobe.com/t5/adobe-experience-manager/aem-guides-assets-ui-has-nonfunctional-navigation-arrows/m-p/703254#M174024 , but have been advised to post here instead. When viewing a preview for a file in the Assets UI, there are backwards/forwards arrows at the top of the preview that used to allow for browsing through previews of files in a folder. This worked in our on-prem AEM instance but after migrating to cloud, we have noticed the arrows do not do anything in our cloud instances. Have tried it in multiple instances with multiple browsers.Does anyone know how to enable these or whether this is a known bug?We do not have custom code for changing the alignment.Thanks,Robin 

I have an image in the resources folder in AEM called 'warning_triangle.png'.I want to include this using JavaScript.In the temporary files folder, the image is exported to:publish\templates\dita-templates\pdf\PRESET_NAME\warning_triangle.pngThe JavaScript runs on ‘mergedHTML.htm’ which exists at the same level as the publish folder,The only way I can access the image is to give the path to it but this will change dependent on the preset name.If I use:var hazardImage = 'warning_triangle.png';the image is not displayed in the resultant PDF. However if I use:var hazardImage = 'publish\templates\dita-templates\pdf\PRESET_NAME\warning_triangle.png';Is there a more standard way of accessing files in the resource folder without having to specify a path that includes the preset name and will vary?Alternatively, is there a way to access the preset name in the JavaScript so I can dynamically alter the publish path to include the current preset name?

Hello,The AEM publish server is not accessible after the we adding the URL Mappings in the org.apache.sling.jcr.resource.internal.JcrResourceResolverFactoryImpl OSGi configuration. Also the server itself unresponsive after the configuration changes. The "Open in FrameMaker" option in our AEM Guides instance is showing up fine -- and it used to work for me. But lately (I think since upgrading versions of Guides and FrameMaker (to 2020), when I click "OPen in FrameMaker" to open either a .dita file or .ditamap file in FrameMaker, the screen just sort of blinks and then nothing happens. This happens to one of my coworkers as well, but is working properly for a handful of my other coworkers. I've checked that .dita and .ditamap files are set to open in Adobe FrameMaker 2020 by default on my system. I tried to allow pop-ups for our aem production instance. Any other ideas on why the OPen in FrameMaker option is not working for me and how to fix it? Thank you!

For the standard note types the language variable text is set successfully so it appears in the prefix-content: <div class="note note" data-attr-type="note"><span class="prefix-content">Note: </span>This is a note of type 'note'</div> But for @14236791=other  @othertype I get: <div class="other note" data-attr-othertype="respiratory-warning" data-attr-type="other"><span class="prefix-content">Other: </span>This is a note of type 'other' with othertype set to respiratory-warning</div> The prefix-content is related to @14236791=other and not @othertype. Is there a way to set the language variable text for each @14236791=other @othertype combination?

Hi everybody,I'm an AEM (Sites and Guides, cloud version) user with a group of companies, with a long history, developing and supporting decades worth of consumer products. I've taken on the responsibility of coming up with a way of classifying all our products, assets, and deliverables throughout history for these companies. The products in particular can be classified according to the parent-child relationships you might find in a DAM's folder structure, such as:BrandFamilyGroupModel...but there's one other aspect I'm having trouble with: these products can vary over their lifespans. I want to keep the page numbers in the TOC except for what is in Backmatter.I do want the Headings in Backmatter to appear in TOC... but again, not the "...... " and not the page number. How to accomplish this? Something to go into CSS like this? .toc-level-1.back-matter { ?????????}

Hi there! I'm trying to suppress some topics in a map from making it to the Native PDF output. For these topics, I'm using the attribute of print=no. Is there something that I need to set up in a stylesheet to prevent these topics showing up in the PDF? Is conditionalizing the only way to currently accomplish this? Can I utilize deliverytarget for this somehow?I have a similar question with the toc=no attribute. We had previously used this to suppress ToCs in our old system. Is there another method for making this work? Is another Native PDF template without the ToC the way to go? Thanks for your help!Josh

Open in FrameMaker" option exists when a a dita asset is check marked. We don't want that option to be enabled, so we have unchecked this option in configMgr. I have also tried cycling the setting on my instance but it has no impact on the behavior. Do we have any other workaround to get this option disable while marked on dita assets. Using JavaScript I would like to find out what the 'lang' attribute variable is set to. I have used:document.getAttribute('lang').value;document.head.parentNode.getAttribute('lang').value;document.body.parentNode.getAttribute('lang').value;document.querySelector('html').getAttribute('lang').value;without success. Is it possible and if so, how do I get the value? Thanks in advance Tony

Where PDFs will be printed there is a requirement to generate output PDFs with a page count which is a multiple of 4. Is there a way to count and add pages, if required? I know we can run a JavaScript script post pagination  - does this give us access to the page information which would allow us to expand the number of pages, if required?
