Are you talking about being in the custom form itself and trying to Add a Field? If so, it would be because it's mistyped (I assume you checked that already), but it could be because the field is already in the form. You can only have a field appear once in a form. At least those are the first things I check. Make sure to look for it under Custom fields, among the tabs available. Built-in Fields Custom Fields All Fields Polly Co

If you want a Field on your Custom Form to have changes made to it tracked in Updates, you will need to go to the specific Custom Form itself. Then, click on that specific Field on that Custom Form. In the left hand side, where the Field Settings are shown, down at the bottom, there is a header called: "Additional settings that affect this form only". Under that header, there is a setting called: "Display field changes in update feeds". Once you click on that setting for that Field on that Custom Form, field changes made to that Field will display in the Updates section of a Project. (I have this activated for a Field on one of my Custom Forms; the Field is a drop down.) Hopefully, this helps you out and is what you were looking to do. Terry Hynd EBSCO Information Services

Is it a calculated field? Those can't be tracked. If it's not, I always do it from the custom form itself. Select the field, and you'll see this option on the left side: Also, I found out recently that there is a limit to the number of fields you can track (500) Adina

Adina, I think the limit for Update feeds is 300 total. (I don't know if this is 300 per object type or if it's 300 total for issues, tasks, and projects) https://support.workfront.com/hc/en-us/articles/217222387-Enabling-System-Tracked-Update-Feeds "You can track up to 300 built-in and custom fields in the update feeds. If you are tracking the maximum number of fields and want to track additional fields that are not displayed in the All Fields Sub-tab, you must first remove some of the tracked fields in order to track new fields." I think 500 was the limit for how many custom fields you can have on a single custom form. Vincent Goodwin The Capital Group Companies

I remember now.. it used to be 500 which I reached, and a few months ago they changed it to 300 so I had to go in and uncheck 200 fields that we were tracking in order to add more. It was a good cleanup exercise! Adina

I believe it is 300 -- which is extremely low for my users needs. Especially since there is now audit table available to report off. JohnSeitz ESPN

Hi John, What do you mean by an Audit table to report off of? I am trying to create reports off the update stream and struggle sometimes getting what I need. So I am interested in what you have found useful. Thanks, Vicki

Adina, thanks for the tip about the new 300-down-from-500 cap; bit of trivia...back in the day, I'm told, it was 999 because the database field was only 3 characters long.
