Changing Custom Form Field Settings

Hello everyone, Question...something I have struggled with for a while and I finally have to ask: I am designing a custom form, and I get many times "this field is used in other custom forms". Well that's fine, but I want to edit it, how would I do that? For instance the field I want is "Deliverables" The one I currently have has a dropdown. However, I want to create a single line text field - I can't seem to create this because of the aforementioned dropdown Deliverables field. I don't even care if I delete the prior one, we are not using that anymore. So how can I a) delete a prior field and/or b) edit one that I need? As a work around I change letters, add a word, etc. But I am thinking there has to be another way. Thank you Mike Mike Marando Excelsior College

Hi Mike, That is how I got around it as well. I add a character or word to create a unique name. There is no other way as the field name needs to be unique. If you want to delete an obsolete field, simply click on the Fields tab of the custom forms, select the field you want to Delete and hit Delete. For safety I have the View set to display the Forms this Field is in (I think this is the default they give you anyway). This will help you verify if it is indeed used somewhere else before you clobber it. Thank you Vic that worked perfect! That tab was right there the whole time. This allows me to delete what I don't need, and identify/edit the original field as well. Thanks again! Mike Mike Marando Excelsior College
