Well for us it was a very easy transition because this was a scrum team going to Kanban. So basically going from using Sprints/Iterations, to simply not using Sprints anymore. So they just rank the work and grab the next one in line. It was a matter of flipping the switch in the Team settings and the team is making the small adjustment on how the Kanban board works. Moving from Waterfall might be more difficult depending on what you mean. In my mind when you say Waterfall it means projects. Going from projects to Scrum or Kanban is a whole culture change which would need to include training etc. We did the transition from project work to Scrum in 2012. It took training the whole staff and a little bit of work to transition. We then discovered we couldn't completely get rid of projects as there were endeavors that were too large or required the work of several scrum teams, so they needed a PM to herd those cats. We can talk more offline if you wish to discuss more. Also, keep in mind Kanban doesn't have the new feature where you can bring Issues into the Kanban board. It's Tasks only at this point.
