Resource Planning & Resource Scheduling

Avatar

Level 4
Hello, Currently searching for the best way to resolve the following challenge - Please consider the attached screenshot. It represents the workload for one user on a daily basis. Some project tasks belong to Urgent type of projects, and others to High, Normal, and Low priority projects. This particular resource is over allocated pretty much every day. How can I re-align or re-distribute his/her time based on the following rules - 1. Projects with Urgent priority get scheduled first, then High, then Normal, and finally Low priority projects. 2. User gets scheduled for up to 8 hours per day. Note: Please keep in mind that the projects prioritization (Urgent, High, Normal, Low) is done manually based on rules. Any thoughts and ideas are greatly appreciated. Thanks, +Pavlin Pavlin Panayotov Littelfuse, Inc.

Hi Pavlin, This is a common use case, which we automated and visualize in our "https://store.atappstore.com/product/deassign-resources/">Deassign / "https://store.atappstore.com/product/assign-resources/">Assign Resources and "https://store.atappstore.com/product/heatmap/">Heatmap solutions, respectively. I invite you to review both, for background (and consideration). With those concepts in hand, you could then manually apply a similar approach within the native Resource Planner: you could filter to the low>med>high priority items and deassign them until there is some "headroom", then filter to the high>med>low priority items and (re)assign them until you're at capacity, and then review the results either in the Resource Planner (or an assignments report) ordered and highlighted to visually spot any outliers (e.g. a Low priority task that's been assigned ahead of a High priority task that has not been assigned).
