Reporting on Access Levels info

The access levels report doesn't give me enough info about the settings on each access level. "Field Access Privileges" is the most detailed field, and it's still not enough detail. Has anyone any successful workaround for this? -skye

Hey @Skye Hansen What type of information are you trying to get from this report? Vicky Fitzgerald Telegraph Media Group Limited

hi @Vicky Fitzgerald , basically everything I can see in an access level, is something I should be (would like to be) able to report on. This includes What the different settings available for each license type are set to, including fine-tuned settings What we've allowed administrative access for What additional restrictions are set to I have a situation where I have several different access levels for each license type--for example being able to selectively give a set of users the ability to see financial data may indicate creating 2 different types of access level per license type: one access level for each license that needs to see financial data and another for the restricted users. If you look at the fine-tune settings for every single setting and imagine any number of permutations it can get unwieldy. Having a more detailed report would save me from having to open each access level and click on all the settings in order to fully describe the difference between each access level--not only now, but in the future. -skye

That's a good security audit list Skye, We've considered making a "http://store.atappstore.com/product/magic-reports/">Magic Report to present this information, but (practically), when providing our "http://store.atappstore.com/product/workfront-merge-split/">Workfront Merge/Split service, we recommend simply opening two browser windows and comparing security settings side by side using the configuration screens you mentioned, since -- if there is any modification required -- you're then right where you need to be to correct it. Hi @Skye Hansen I've been having a look and only managed to get as far as you... but definitely agree this would be super useful in a report instead of having to manually check the access levels. Vicky Fitzgerald Telegraph Media Group Limited

thanks Vicky and Doug my workaround is to set up an excel spreadsheet to capture the info initially and then put the results of each capture into the description of the access level. There was probably a better way to handle this, but I tend to think in excel. The resulting spreadsheet lets me compare each access level (row) to each other and insure I have no duplicates. Putting the results back into the description field will let the system admin team remember that we are tracking this, and give them a framework for editing or creating a description. It happens rarely so it's not going to be too painful to have to do. I used coding similar to this: "https://trumpexcel.com/select-multiple-items-drop-down-list-excel/" title="https://trumpexcel.com/select-multiple-items-drop-down-list-excel/">https://trumpexcel.com/select-multiple-items-drop-down-list-excel/ -skye

Greetings! New-ish install of Workfront here... I can definitely say that I believe this is a needed report because when you are trying to troubleshoot, comparing two similar Access Levels is often time-sensitive. Clicking into each level across two browsers is a bit tedious in that instance. Is there anything dealing with this yet on the Idea Exchange? I might want to add one if not, but if there is one, I'll certainly up-vote it. Bernie Middendorf AT&T Creative Services - NYC

I think probably drop Doug Den Hoed a line and see if he can make it a workshop? I can't tell if he's looking for workshop material or if he has enough and just needs to determine the order

Hello ... I'm a newish WF Admin, moving over to NE, and in doing so I am reviewing our internal Access Levels, and trying to work out the Next Steps of getting broader institution access to WF, which is quite limited now... I don't know if what is being asked above is the same as this ask, but, I would like the DETAILS of EACH Level NAME (see screen shot) in ONE report, down to the sub-details of each Level (i.e. what is behind the 'settings wheel' for Projects - Edit) to do a comparison of all the different Access Levels, and how to tweak, or, create a new Level ...

The Export function in Access Levels only gives an overview of the Access Level summary/landing page, I want one report with all Levels, all details, to compare... Thank you!

Did anything ever come out of this? Still hoping that this is something we'll be able to do.

Is there any developments on this? Curious as the original post was several year ago.
