possible to view sum of project field at the program level?

I would love to be able to show the sum a project-based numeric field at the program level. (Meaning the sum of this field from all projects under a program). The number of projects under any given program varies. I've worked with collections and custom calculated fields, but I'm not sure if what I need can be done using them together. Is this possible? Hi Catherine, At this time, there are no aggregation functions (e.g. SUM, MAX, etc.) available within collections, but I invite you to consider our "https://store.atappstore.com/product/ubercalc/" UberCalc solution, which does cover those concepts (and more) in a fashion that will allow you to create and maintain such running statistics on your own. I'm having a similar challenge, trying to sum numerical project data at either the program or portfolio level. It seems the most curious blind-spot for a system as robust as Workfront to be seemingly unable to do simple mathematical sum calculations in it's reporting package. I've got a call with support this afternoon to review, hoping they'll find some obvious solution I'm just missing entirely. Katherine Katherine Stibley

Hi Katherine (and Catherine), Although aggregates on collections are not possible, another option is to create a Project report, grouped by Portfolio / Program, and show the desired Project level numeric column(s) in the view with the "Sum" option selected (which is in the top panel when each such column is highlighted). Doing so will then show the sum at each grouping level in the report. Regards, Doug Den Hoed - AtAppStore

Thanks Doug. This is the approach we are using now Catherine Hayes Manager, Business Analytics and Program Operations The Channel Company Westborough MA

Hey Catherine, I've found that you have some additional, limited options for summing up program data if you create chart to display your data. Step 1: Build a program report that filters all programs within a specific portfolio. Step 2: Navigate to the Charts section and build a chart that will sum up the total percent complete by the program, the total count of projects per program, the total count of projects by project condition. (I'm sure there are some others as well, but these are the three I've been successful in creating) Step 3: Once the chart is built, you can also click on the report "summary" option to view the count as well. The buggy thing to me is that I can't pull the same information in the standard grid report. Either way, hopefully, this helps start to pull some of that data. I've been trying to figure this out as well. Albert Poulson, PMP Enterprise Project Manager HealthEquity 15 W. Scenic Pointe Drive, Ste 100 Draper, UT 84020
