Linking to Specific Tabs - NWE

Avatar

Employee

Hello All,

Just digging into some NWE stuff and noticed that my links to specific tabs no longer works. I set them up based on this article: https://one.workfront.com/s/article/Linking-Tabs-from-Lists-and-Reports-1370315261?language=en_US

The URL comes up correct, but it doesn't go to the specific dashboard, just the general landing page for the object. Is this no longer a possibility?

Thanks!

hey Sarah, can you be more specific about which link isn't working? I just tried mine and I am getting inconsistent results, so I would like to try whichever ones aren't working for you to drill down a bit. It is certainly worth a ticket to the helpdesk, since I asked multiple times during alpha and got reassurances that those links would always work. I've specifically noticed that some of the linking around issue sub-subtabs are not working. I think the actual issue subtab is also not working.

You are correct, there is a difference. We have a lot of team dashboards and link to the Team Working On Calendar from there. So know we have two widgets one for Classic and one for NWE

Classic: https://fcb.my.workfront.com/people?activeTab=content-team-schedule&tabTeamID=5c54b385001b915d146df7...

NWE: https://fcb.my.workfront.com/team/5c54b385001b915d146df7d402233b7a/schedule

Even linking to Requests has changed:

Classic: https://fcb.my.workfront.com/requests?activeTab=tab-new-helpRequest&projectID=51015bd3000471e3f25633...

NWE: https://fcb.my.workfront.com/requests/new?projectID=51015bd3000471e3f256332a95e9b215

It has been an interesting transition for us.

Hi Sarah,

Could you please submit an issue with the specific Workfront Classic URLs that are not redirecting correctly in the new experience to Workfront Support? The use of links to specific tabs should be redirecting correctly as this was a new capability we delivered in the 20.1 release. However, as you identified there is an issue with some objects not redirecting correctly and we will investigate further to develop a fix.

Our goal is that you can continue to use Classic URLs using this "activeTab" technique as the link should open the correct page in the new experience. Once your teams are in the new experience and you want to build links to specific areas, then the new experience provides direct URLs for all of these pages and you do not have to use this "activeTab" technique. However, any older links from Classic will continue to redirect correctly.

Just heard back from support that they do not intend to fix this. Activetabs going to the subtab level (e.g. Active Requests/Complete requests/All Requests or Projects I own/Projects I'm on) will only direct as far as the tab (Requests in a project, or main Projects area)
