Editing an Assignment Report

Avatar

Level 3
I have an Assignment Report showing Tasks assigned to users with a specific job role. I am unable to edit the report in-line which I saw a post relating to adding this text mode to make it editable but it's not working: isInlineEditable=true Anyone know how to get an assignment report to be editable in-line.

Hi @ThomasNe2

To edit assignments you'd need to be in a task/issue report and show the Assignments column.
You cannot edit assignments (even though you can report on them)

I *think* architecturally, this is because an assingment is a "connecting object" between a task/issue and a user/team/role. The assignment has a role IF the assignee is a user (or a role) - a team doesn't have a role.
You also can't edit the rate etc - because that's all derived data.

So TL;DR - can't edit assignments - edit the task/issue and modify the assignment there.

Hi Sven, Thank you for the update. I have attempted to create a task report to test the information you provided. We have multiple people assigned to each task, and some of them have different job roles. However, when I filter by job role or by the user’s name, the report still shows certain users that I did not expect. Do you have any suggestions on how I can make the filtering more specific? Thanks!

Hi Jennifer -
I'm not clear on your use case. There's nothing wrong with reporting on assignments (maybe grouping them by task or issue) - help me understand how the report filtering relates to the OP's question about editing assignments?

Hi Sven,

When I specify a job role for a particular assignee in the report, it still includes all users assigned to the task, rather than just those with the designated job role. This issue also arises when I include specific user names that I want to feature in the report; it still shows all users assigned to the task instead of the selected ones.
