Custom forms: Reporting impact of changing the label for an existing

Hi, Apologies for this basic question but I'm having trouble finding info on this in Help documentation and these forums... One of the schools in our university recently underwent a name change, going from School of Professional Studies to School of Leadership Studies. We have custom forms that allow us to select which school a project is for and we then report on how many projects we've done by school. I want to be sure that just changing the school's name in the "Choices" section in the Edit Form Settings won't create problems in our reports. I will not add a new choice... just change the existing choice's value. I've attached a screenshot to help illustrate what I'm talking about. Specifically, I would expect that once I make the change any reports will just show the new name (School of Professional Studies) instead of the old name (School of Leadership Studies). I do not want reports to start showing School of Professional Studies AND School of Leadership Studies. Hopefully that makes sense. I appreciate any clarification you can offer! Yes they should just change the value automatically for you. At the very least if they don't, you simply have to "touch" the offending records and they'll update for you (you can do a bulk edit and change nothing). Hope that makes sense. I agree with Vic. One thing to also consider... If you have any calculated fields that use that field for the calculation, you will need to do a recalculate of the custom data to refresh the calculated value. Good Luck! Admin Kelly-Wehrmann SSFCU

Good point. I actually just had to do this exact thing today (not the calculated field part, just changing the value) and I confirmed that changing the value in place will update all the old records (without having to bulk edit). So it should be easy peasy. This also will effect any reporting filters you have, I recently made a change and noticed that my reports were no longer filtering out projects with a certain choice and when I went into the report I realized that the field choice was no longer listed and had to add it back Monique Evans Stanley Black & Decker, Inc.

Yes, this is a bug we've had open since November, with no ETA for a fix. Escalating this hasn't helped much. If more people could open a case for this, they said it might make things move along faster. You can reference Request #1119194. Adina
