Can you restrict task viewing outside of access level?

Hi! We share our instance with another department, setup as a company, in our Workfront. We have differing views on how our stakeholders should interact with each department. In our department, our stakeholders do not see tasks in a project. It's turned off. However, in their department, they DO see tasks in a project. We have a subset of stakeholders that need to work within each company. When that happens, it seems that the stakeholders with the more advanced viewing rights can now see the tasks in our projects as well. Is there a way, outside of the access level settings, to keep a user or group of users from seeing project tasks? In project setup, it doesn't give you the option to not view tasks. Good morning Christina, Access to objects is controlled by a combination of Access Level settings and Sharing settings. If the stakeholder's access level permissions are set to View or Edit, they will be able to see projects/tasks. A user cannot be given permission to do something that is beyond their access level. When you assign or tag a stakeholder in a project update, the stakeholders will gain inherited rights due that align with their access level. When you share a project/task with stakeholders, the lower items associated with the object also inherit the same permissions level as they are given on the project. For instance, if you share the project they will have the same permissions on the tasks, or if you share a task they will have the same permissions on the sub-task. Hope this helps. Thanks Mark! So if I am following correctly, if a user's access level is set to NOT view tasks, but, the template/project sharing shows that if they are added to a task they can contribute to the project.......they should in theory, be able to contribute to the project? The opposite will occur if they have no access. Stakeholders will not be allowed view access unless you permit their access to view tasks. I would add task "view" rights to the access level and control what they can see through sharing by assignment or inherited rights when you tag them. Mark Wilson Centene Corporation
