Can't inline edit a custom project field on a task report

Hi WF Community,

I have a task report that displays custom field data in it.

Custom Field A is on a project custom form.

Custom Field B is on a task custom form.

For some reason, when trying to inline edit these fields on a the report, it only allows me to inline edit Custom Field B, but not Custom Field A. I changed Custom Field A to a text mode column on the report and added this expression - makeFieldEditable=true - per this resource. However, that still didn't open the field up for inline editing.

Anyone know why this is? Is it because I'm using a task report but trying to edit a project field?

Yes, precisely, Nick: only data on the primary object of a report (or list) may be edited.

Confirmed @SherylF,

It is still the (As Designed) case that only data on the primary object of a report can be edited.
