Attach Issue Custom Form to Project Details

Avatar

Level 2

Hello,

We have clients submit requests and then internally 'Convert to Project' which results in the custom form that was attached to the request being available in the 'Project Details' section of the project that was created.

On occasion, we need to set up a project before the request is submitted - is there a way to get the details on the Request custom form into the Project Details once it is submitted (after the project is created)?

I know we can add the issue to the 'Issues' section, but our users are so used to looking in Project Details it would be ideal for this to be the same as for all other projects.

Thank you

Lana

@LanaLa, if it's a one-off, this hack might work for you:

  1. Convert the issue to a new project
  2. Save the new project as a template (Save as Template)
  3. Apply the new template to the existing project using "Attach Template."

When attaching the template to the existing project, select "Customize and attach" and, in the "Options" section, deselect all options. That way, only the custom forms/form data will be added to the existing project, and no progress will be altered.

You can also update the "Resolved By" on the issue to the existing project manually.

Hi @SuryaLakhani

Thank you for your reply. I've just tested the solution you suggested and that has worked exactly as needed - thank you!

I wouldn't say it's a one off, but these scenarios definitely don't happen too often so this 'hack' will be fine for us to use when needed.

Thank you
