The ability to ‘pin’ user guides or user-specific information to the user's homepage

The ability to ‘pin’ user guides or user-specific information to the user's homepage would be great.  With the recent developments Adobe have completed for us it would have been good to add guides for users to the homepage but I noticed that the pin function will only allow the pinning of Workfront objects, e.g. ‘Projects’, ‘Issues’ etc, and that specifically pinning documents, just pins the ‘Documents’ section of Workfront, where I believe pinning individual documents would be much more beneficial to users.

Hi @amariamorar,

Workfront natively offers a Hyperlink property on several objects (e.g. Projects, Tasks, Issues, etc.), so one solution would be to:

  • create a Project called User Guides
  • create a Task for each User Guide of interest (perhaps using the Planned Start Date as the day it was added to the project, so folks can easily see What's New by sorting and/or Gantt charting)
  • update each such Task's Hyperlink to the URL of the User Guide (whether an internal document within Workfront, or a url on the internet, or a video on YouTube, etc.)
  • create a Task Report showing the Name, Hyperlink and Planned Start Date (for sorting)
  • create a dashboard with that Report on it
  • pin that dashboard

As an added bonus, you could add parent Tasks to group related manuals together, additional custom parameters indicating what users can expect (e.g. AI 100 Word Summary, Has Diagram, Has Video, etc.), add conditional formatting to highlight NEW (e.g. within last 30 days) resources, use Task Security to grant/hide the Right Links to the Right People, and even incorporate the Dashboard into Layout Templates for centralized administration.

Have fun!

Regards,

Doug
