Text Mode - Drop down of all common code

When I open the text editor and see the input text pop-up, it would be nice to have a drop-down or sample code field that held the most common used codes. Something where I can select a name and it auto-insets the sample code to be edited.

For example:

Collections:

displayname=column name

listdelimiter=<p>

listmethod=nested(collectionname).lists

textmode=true

type=iterate

valueexpression=criteria

valueformat=HTML

Shared Columns:

value=<br>

valueformat=HTML

width=1

sharecol=true

General Text Mode:

displayname=

valueformat=

valueexpression=

I think this is a great idea. This is already sorta done in the Calculated Fields area, where it gives you a list of possible expressions and then explains the formatting for the calculation.

I'd love to see it expanded to the Text Mode area.

Vincent,

The functions feature your referencing is wonderful and would be great to see as well.

I'm talking about having a drop down in the text mode text box where when you click on it, it opens a window of commonly used custom code like my examples above. I made a mock up to better show what I'm thinking.

I am always using text mode to get Sponsor Name to appear vs. Sponsor ID. I'm pretty good at doing that now, but it's a pain. I could probably brainstorm some others, and a few I'd like to know.

I'm just starting to use text mode for custom project reporting and its a pain to remember the format needed. This would be extremely helpful as you create new filters and or groupings to have a starting point. Best idea would be to have a text mode library for users to reference.

Thank you for this idea. At this point simplifying and making the in-product reporting more flexible has higher priority on our roadmap, so we do not plan major text mode reporting investments in the next year. Based on that, I'm marking this idea as Not Planned. However, this does not mean that we won't consider text mode improvements in our long-term roadmap.

Thanks!

I'd add that another way to approach this would be to provide default report categories – such as, "Marketing Team Reports" and "Finance Reports" and "Time Tracking Reports." This would make the organizational rollout of Workfront much more turnkey.

If nothing else, it would be great if there was ONE document with all the syntax. So tired of looking through many documents to find the commands.

It seems that, this idea is taken but no instant plan. IF we see the last message from the product manager is one and half year old. Might be missing their own priority.
