Enable Word Limits in Text Fields

Avatar

Description - We have a need to show and enforce a word limit at the custom form level on text fields. The use case for this is an automation we are building to send a content fragment (e.g., a paragraph) to another system (e.g., Seismic) for input into a piece of content (e.g., a PowerPoint)

Why is this feature important to you - This will enable the automations we are building between Workfront and other systems to assemble pieces of content with limited manual input. Without a word limit, users who are unaware of the limit will have to spend time rewriting content, which hinders the efficiency we are trying to create.

How would you like the feature to work - As stated in description.

Current Behaviour - No word limit is shown or enforced anywhere in Workfront to my understanding.

Absolute must-have. It has been inefficient for my team to have to author their text in MS Word first to track word count before pasting over to Workfront

This idea is currently being investigated by the Workfront Product Management team. An official response will be provided by the end of May. Thanks for your patience!

Hello @MaceyM1

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Although we do not have this in our immediate roadmap, we will consider adding some limits to the text fields. Also, there are some default limits in place in the system, as the texts cannot be unlimited. We can provide the exact numbers if needed.

Hi @NareMu is this considered the "official response" referenced by @jon_chen . Was hoping for something a bit more helpful... exact numbers do not help the use case as described by @MaceyM1  or referenced by many others through the years on this board... thanks!

Hi @NareMu and @jon_chen - following up on my note above, is this something that can be brought further up the roadmap? looking through the community forums and idea threads, there are dozens of requests just like this one over the years. How can a "content supply chain platform" work effectively without the ability to control the output...?

Hi @Christopher29269095dwjg ,

Thank you for your feedback. Currently, we are reviewing our roadmap and I will communicate this further. We surely should consider moving this up in our roadmap.
