Wouldn't it be great to set a Project's Planned Start Date and Planned Completion Date, and then let Workfront calculate the planned durations and planned hours for each task based on how much of the project's total duration should be spent on each task?
Template Example:
1. Planning: Duration=10%
2. Design: Duration=50%
3. Review: Duration=5%
4. Revisions: Duration=25%
5. Final Approval: Duration=5%
6. Delivery & Closeout: Duration=5%
Now imagine you have two projects that follow this template. Both are started today and typically take six weeks to complete, but one is a rush request and it's needed in three weeks...
Project 1 (Standard 6 Weeks):
1. Planning: Duration=3 Days
2. Design: Duration=15 Days
3. Review: Duration=2 Days
4. Revisions: Duration=8 Days
5. Final Approval: Duration=1 Day
6. Delivery & Closeout: Duration=1 Day
Project 2 (Rush 3 Weeks):
1. Planning: Duration=2 Days
2. Design: Duration=8 Days
3. Review: Duration=1 Days
4. Revisions: Duration=4 Days
5. Final Approval: Duration=0 Days
6. Delivery & Closeout: Duration=0 Days
The only inputs needed are the start date and planned completion date. Workfront uses the percentages associated with each task in the template to calculate the durations in each project scenario.
Vote it up! :-)
Thanks,
