[CLOSED] - Closing a Task should prevent time entry

This post has been closed as a duplicate. All votes have been moved to the original: Give PMs ability to prevent users from Logging Time to Completed Tasks

If you close a task, and want to prevent anyone from logging time on it after that point, you have to go into Sharing Settings and remove people's contribute access to log hours. It would be much faster, and more intuitive, if closing/completing the task automatically removed everyone's ability to log time on it.

This is similar to the following:

We would like the users prevented from logging time to a task that is closed, unless the time they are logging is in the past (basically backdated). For example, users that forget to log their time daily wind up logging it by end of week/end of month. We would like for them to enter hours on any days up to the Actual Completion Date of the task, but not beyond. This way the task doesn't have to be reopened and closed to allow stragglers to log time.

I agree, staff should not be able to log time on a task that is complete. If they are doing this, then the task must not be complete.

Hi - agreed - and I think this has been raised before. There is a setting in the Setup menu that allows you to prevent time being logged to a Completed project - having a radio button in the same menu but for a Task would be ideal.

As a side note - removing the sharing permissions does work however it is not ideal as it overrides logical access like a Project Managers visibility of their own tasks.
