Allow Nicknames for Users

Add a secondary name field for nickname. We have lots of users who officially go by a name like "Michael" (so that's how they're entered into the system) but who casually go by "Mike." Can we have the ability to add both name options to enhance searchability?

We have many users with very long names and have adopted an easier first name. Also, lots of people that go by their middle name and not their first name. Allowing for a nickname or AKA, and putting that in the name search and show their name as,

first,(AKA), last

We have many users from other countries that use an "americanized" name but their legal name gets displayed through SSO via our active directory, making it difficult for anyone to locate them in the system. We also have many people that go by their middle names. Sometimes it is misleading to other users, causing them to think someone is not even in the system when they have trouble locating names based on the only name the other person has ever used in email and around the office.

Currently, there is no opportunity for Workfront users to enter their "Preferred Name". (if someone has a nickname or alternate they want to use) Per one of the users in our PMO: "It is not technically difficult to use a ‚Äòpreferred name’ field linked to a user’s legal name in a system and most systems I’ve used through the years have that option. Medical office portals, yoga studios, other project management software, summer camps where I send my kids, etc. all ask if there’s a name someone prefers to be called by, so I see no reason for Workfront not to offer this option as well."

Why is this idea archived? I also have issues but for us, we have people named "Samuel" that go by "Rick" and a guy named "Michael" that probably is nicknamed "Billy" but it's really hard for me to reconcile HR updates about people with such vastly different "nicknames" or people who use a middle name as a first name into Workfront which only has fields for a legal name. Help us out here.

Agreed. This should be a default, or at least at the top of the to-do list. We have Workfront integrating with Workday, Azure, and other user management systems, all of which have 'preferred name' options. Workfront's inability to handle this is causing issues and breaking task assignments.

Given we have multiple project management apps in use and available to us, every time something simple like this breaks a process, it gives users and whole departments another reason to request getting off Workfront and moving to an alternate platform. About 1/4 of our WF users moved to other apps this year.

C'mon, folks, this isn't an unusual ask.
