Ability to Lock Custom Views Per Project

I frequently switch between multiple projects, each with its own priorities and workflows. However, the current behavior forces me to manually change the view every time I move from one project to another, which is both tedious and time-consuming.

I’d love to have the ability to lock a specific view to each project—so when I open Project A, I see the fields, highlights, and layout tailored to that project, and when I switch to Project B, it automatically displays its own customized view. This would streamline navigation, reduce repetitive clicks, and make it much easier to focus on what matters most in each context.

Hi,

Unfortunately, this is not possible — the system will always load the last view you selected.

To be honest, I don’t switch views that frequently in Workfront projects. It’s actually quite rare for me, and I’ve worked with different companies and across multiple Workfront instances.

I’d recommend reviewing your project templates to see if there's a way to standardize them. Analyze the different types of projects you manage, identify what they have in common, and handle the unique aspects in a more structured way.

Most of the key variables you need to visualize in a timeline are standard in Workfront, so you can apply a common structure across all projects. If you have custom fields that you’d like to track, consider using reports and dashboards. These can group projects by type and help display the specific custom information relevant to each group.

Of course, these are just suggestions — I’m not familiar with your specific project environment or the particularities of each project you manage. Many people say that every project is unique and cannot be standardized. While that’s partly true, we also know that most projects share common tasks and workflows.

When a project is too unique, it becomes impossible to measure — and if you can’t measure it, you can’t improve it.

If none of the options I mentioned above are possible, the only workaround I can think of is creating a custom report for each project and saving the report link within the project itself. That way, instead of going to the project’s timeline, you can go directly to a customized report with specific columns tailored for each project — which can save you time.

Good luck!
