I don't know how else to call it but basically being able to change things on the setup page that the admins have via API calls, particularly, email notifications but I can see this being useful in other parts as well.
Use case: I have a scheduled script that would run every night that would possibly send hundreds of notification to all users so I don't want them to see all these the next day. Option would be to turn off that particular notification that will get triggered automatically and then turn it back on when script is done. Another option is setting up the mail server to null - currently, not available via API. Or similar option to preview server where you can turn off/turn on notification per user.
