Thoughts on approach to updating Groups/Teams/Roles in Workfront with Org structure changes

We've had some reorgs in the company, resulting in some departmental/role name changes and restructures. If you have experienced this, have you gone in and just renamed existing roles in WF to map to their new updated naming, OR do you deactivate those existing roles and create new roles? I don't want to overload the system with legacy information, but not sure if there would be downstream impacts later on if we just rename existing active groups/roles? Any insights from those who have been here before? Thanks in advance!
