My Approvals Widget

The Approvals Widget has switched order so the oldest are on page one.

We would prefer it go back to the way it was -- newest to oldest.

I am an admin and haven't made any purposeful revisions to any setup or layout for this to occur and cannot find a place to change it.

Any ideas?

A toggle would at least allow me to put it back to the way it originally was (newest at the top of page 1), so yes. If it cannot just be reset back to the way it was then at least a toggle would allow me to do it myself.

why are approvals sticking around for so long without having a decision made on them by the stakeholder?

Respectfully, the question should be, "in what order are the discussions on this forum arranged?" 

Descending, of course. What's most relevant appears first. That which requires action most urgently appears first. Same exact principle applies to proofs. There are stragglers that may have fallen down the priority list for one reason or another, but those can always be revisited later.
