From memory (long time ago) somewhere close to where you set the page size, there was also an option to show the page outline on the designer. Can't remember the exact path to it just now, but I am sure it is there. Good luck..

The two 'parallel lines' Paul used are two 'pipe' characters (ASCII code 124). Usually it can be found in the keyboard, have a look at the key for backslash "\".
