Yes Nith, you are correct - we want the initiator to see the attachments, and because of that, this would probably need to be done either in the prepare data or the render process. Since it's a Flex based form, PDF attachments are not an alternative, either. If I try to invoke a component based function which adds the attachments inside the prepare data process I'm not getting any error. Still, they are not visible in the workspace. However, if the initiator manually adds an attachment himself, t...

Task attachments in Task Manager endpoint

Hello everybody,I'm having a problem with an advanced workflow application and I guess I'm stuck What I want to achieve is to have a set of initial task attachments that get automatically attached to an initial task. This means that I want to have one or two documents attached to the endpoint task without user interaction - when a user invokes the workflow they should already be there by default.I have tried to do this using the TaskManager's API functions (like copyAttachmentsToTask etc.) in a ...

Hi everybody,we're having a problem with a customer scenario that we can't seem to sort out: We are implementing a complex user-centric workflow (products: Forms, Reader Extensions, Output, Process Management). For reporting purposes, the customer needs a flat PDF copy of every PDF form that any user submits during the workflow. The logical idea seems to be to convert every submitted PDF to PDF/A, which would be nice for archiving purposes as well. However, it seems like that some state informati...

Hi Steve,1st of all, thank you for your reply. In my scenario, I'd like to populate a grid with user names, id's and some additional information. When a user clicks on an entry (or row), I'd like to use data from the respective record (let's say the user's id) for subsequent operations, like calling a web service requiring a user id as the input parameter.I seem to be able to populate a list (by calling an LC component returning an ArrayList of objects, even not knowing if this is the correct app...

Hello all,I'd like to ask a question about form guides: What I would like to do is to populate a collection of items on the server side and to display those items in a grid control (or similar) in a form guide. After displaying, the user should be able to select one of the items by clicking on the respective row.Is this possible at all, and if so, how?Thank you all,Steffen.

Yes I do, but I have an "educated guess" what might be causing this. The LC server is running on Solaris. From time to time, there's the need to run some program which is using a GUI (like configManager for example). To be able to do this, the DISPLAY env variable needs to be set if one wants to see the respective windows etc.It seems like whenever this variable is not empty, the issue occurs. I cannot confirm this 100%, but at least this seems to make some sense.Steffen.

Since you mentioned AWS_ACTION etc. in your post I thought I should provide some info ... but maybe that was a misunderstanding. For the other two, I can only suspect that those are not at all relevant for the *form* itself. I guess they are just meant to be containers for values that the Workspace app uses to store values in (user abc has just submitted data, dear server - deal with it ). The data is then used to fill all the structures and values that you can use in your server side submit serv...

Hi Nith,as far as AWS_ACTION is concerned - I think this is a dropdown list which contains a list of all the options the respective user should have when it comes to submitting the form. The list is populated at runtime from a comma-separated list which is stored on the server in one of the other process fields (there's a script that populates the list in the form). For every item, the Workspace app generates a button for the user to click on.Regarding AWS_ASSIGNED_ID, I think this contains the ...

Hi Nith, what does that "binary" stuff look like? If it's a Base64-like string, you could create a document variable by decoding it, then have a look if it's actually XML. If not, it may be a PDF, which you could extract XML data from by using the FormAugmenter service.Steffen.

Hi Steve, the WebService is ok, I have repeatedly tested it, even using the GUI version of SOAPUI.The strange thing is that the call also actually seems to work from the production server, but it is giving a lot of those described exceptions. This, in turn, triggers the automatic alarms infrastructure which reports that LiveCycle is causing a lot of exceptions. The description "cannot load icon", also seems to be pretty irrelevant since there is no GUI at all. That's why I thought it could maybe ...

Hi John,as it turned out, there is a setting in IE where you can enable/disable ActiveX plugins. I do NOT refer to the overall ActiveX settings, but the "Manage AddOns" option in the settings dialog. There, each specific addon can be disabled/enabled separately. With some versions of Reader 9 there seemed to be a problem that (for unknown reasons) the Reader plugin was in a disabled state. Maybe you can check that?Regards,Steffen.

Hello, while analyzing a customer installation of LiveCycle ES (8.2, JBoss, Solaris, Oracle DB) we have found out that this installation's GDS folder is continually increasing in size. This seems strange since there is only one long-lived service and some short-lived ones. Currently, there is NO active instance of any service and still no file is getting deleted. When looking into one of the subfolders (docm*) there are a lot of files accompanied by additional files with a ".sessionWorkspace_TempD...

Hello everybody, after using PDFG and implementing it for customers for quite some time, I have just noticed that PDFG doesn't seem to be able to convert hyperlinks in a Word document when those links are placed in a footnote. If I try to do the same thing manually using the Word/Acrobat pair on the PDFG server, everything works as expected. Is this a known issue or a limitation of the product? If not, is there any setting that I'm not aware of?Any hint would be greatly appreciated!Steffen.

Hello all,in a customer project, we need to call a couple of Sharepoint web services from an Adobe LC process. The services require NTLM (Windows integrated) authentication. So far, we haven't been able to get this to work - we always end up with an "domain name may not be null" exception. Everything works fine if clear-text authentication is being used, which is, however, not possible in the production environment. Is there anyone who can provide a pointer how to get this to work? Hello, once again I have a question, and this may very well be a tricky one:I have the need to check if a dynamic XFA form has been signed from inside this form. This is quite easy and works perfectly if I just use a button on the form or just about any script event I can think of. It does, however, NOT work if I use the form inside an AIR client which is using a FormBridge construction to communicate with the PDF.The problem seems to be that event.target is always null in that case. However, having just had a look at your site I think that we may very well consider the enquiry tool for at least one of the affected customers.Have a nice weekend,St...

Thank you all for your quick responses! After playing around for a while, I noticed that the issue really only occurs with one specific user account. When I directly assigned the task to this account everything worked just fine. After that, the xPath option worked as well. It really looks like if something is being synchronized into the LC database when a user account has it's first contact with a workflow.
