I know this is an old thread, but if anyone has an example they could send I would be eternally grateful. I have my Access DB connected to my form and it fills in beautifully with the information from the database. So I know that it is connected. I have followed all the tutorials I can find on inserting data into a database. When I click the button, I do not get an error but neither do I have the data inserted into my database. I am using Access 2007 and Livecycle ES 8.2. The form information on...

work in engineering... we have a change process that we have to go through to make a change on our product. I have a form - ECR that I can send to an engineer to start the process. I fill in the ECR #, the product name and the date (there are lots of other fields but I want to keep this simple). They fill in the reason they need the change and what it is.I have an MS Access Dabase that I have written to store the information.I have been able to sucessfully get the form to populate with "my input...

I assume that you have set up the data connection and that you named this data connection "DataConnection" and bound the fields that you want to see information in. I know these are basic questions, but when I'm frusterated, I sometimes forget the simplest things. These are some simple things that I have either thought I did, or forgot to do/redo. When I am in the midst of design and testing.Jenn D.

I assume that you get this from Insert/Custom/Current Date???You need to change the # in the script to match the format you want... According to the Adobe help files...(search DateFmt)The following expressions are examples of using the DateFmt function: DateFmt(1) returns - M/D/YY (if en_US locale is set) DateFmt(2, "fr_CA") returns - YY-MM-DD DateFmt(3, "de_DE") returns - D. MMMM YYYY DateFmt(4, "fr_FR") returns - EEEE D' MMMM YYYY I don't know if you can customize it further or not... Jenn D.

I have this problem sometimes when I forget to change the script Language to FormCalc. In my VERY limited experience, I believe xfa.sourceSet.DataConnection.next() is a FormCalc expression... please forgive my ignorance if I am wrong...Jenn D.

I have a field that if it is empty, needs to be filled, but if it has data, I need that data to be left as is...I know how to write the if and have it fill in the info I need, however, what do I put for the else? So far I have var iVar=0;if ((ECR_Nmr.rawValue==null){xfa.sourceSet.ECP_ECR.last()iVar=1}else***and this is where I get lost... if it is already filled in, I need it to leave whatever is here alone***}Thanks! That is what I intend to do. (I do not need it to go into an Access form, just the database so that the information is usable for reporting). I haven't actually done a distribute/submit in Adobe 9 yet so I'm not sure how/if it differs from 8.0. If I can collect the 'submitted' forms and 'export' the info into the db in a sensible manner, I think that it will all work the way we need it too and everyone will be much happier than they are with the current system. Thanx a bunch! Jenn D.

Not the way I had originally thought I wanted to. I have come up with a creative work-around though. (See previous posts in this discussion). I'm almost to a point that I can start experimenting with how DC can send the engineer's info to the database once they submit it back to her. I really appreciate you taking the time to respond to my posts. I hope you have a great weekend!Jenn D.

OK, I got creative with part of it. I only have one person that needs to fill in the doc number and corresponding information. Then she will distribute it to the engineer who needs it. They will fill out their portion and submit back to her. What I did... I created a form (in Access 2007) with all the information that will need to go on the pdf form. I placed a hyperlink in my access db form that opened the pdf form. The pdf form is told to populate the fields with the last record of the sources...

I think I might have found a site that explains how to do what I need to do. I am going to play with it today and see if I can make any headway. http://forms.stefcameron.com/2006/09/29/selecting-specific-database-records/My biggest problem so far is that I need it to open with the fields blank until I pick the part number. My second biggest problem is having it add a new record to the database and calling the new form number (ECRNumber). This tutorial mentions to pay special attention to the aut...

Good Morning Paul,Yes and Yes. I have an Access database that I have all the part numbers, names, rev #s, process owner, etc. This is a document control (DC) project. I need my DC coordinator to be able to Email Engineering Change Forms to the engineers, have them fill them out and return them. My goal is, if it can be done, to have DC be able to pick a part number and have the corresponding information filled in for them. This ensures consistancy with the names and such. Then, DC will Email it ...

Good Afternoon Paul,I was wondering if you would be so kind as to send me the sample file also. I was also wondering if, in this sample file, it offers the solution to populate other fields depending on the value in a drop down... Example...I have a part name Widget1. The part number for Widget1 is ABC123. On my order form, I want to be able to pick the part name and have the part number automatically fill in.Thank you in advance,Jenn D.jdickens@dse.net

Thank you, it didn't work though. I found a work around that I have incorporated already however. I created read only text boxes and put them behind my radio buttons. I then call out the text boxes to fill in when the conditions are right. It makes the button appear as if it has a "colored frame" around it. I tried a whole bunch of things yesterday but I have about 20 radio buttons on my form and I needed to get it done quickly so I got creative. Have a good day! Jenn D.

I am trying to write the script to display a message and change the color when a field when it is not filled in or a radio button group when the user did not make a choice. I am able to get the text fields working properly, however, I cannot make the radio button group work. It displays the message, but it does not change the color. The code I am using is:if ((New_Existing.rawValue == null) || (New_Existing.rawValue == "")) { app.alert("Please check whether this is a New or an Existing document....

Hello,I have a similar situation. I have been able to make a certain field mandatory when a particular box is checked. My problem is that I do not know how to make it optional if the user changes their mind and unchecks the box. Is there a way to make this happen? Thank you in advance for any help.Jenn D.
