Re: How to insert data into a Database? - Adobe LiveCycle 28-01-2009
I know this is an old thread, but if anyone has an example they could send I would be eternally grateful. I have my Access DB connected to my form and it fills in beautifully with the information from the database. So I know that it is connected. I have followed all the tutorials I can find on inserting data into a database. When I click the button, I do not get an error but neither do I have the data inserted into my database. I am using Access 2007 and Livecycle ES 8.2. The form information on...

Livecycle Designer 8.2 and Access 2007 - Adobe LiveCycle 09-01-2009
work in engineering... we have a change process that we have to go through to make a change on our product. I have a form - ECR that I can send to an engineer to start the process. I fill in the ECR #, the product name and the date (there are lots of other fields but I want to keep this simple). They fill in the reason they need the change and what it is.I have an MS Access Dabase that I have written to store the information.I have been able to sucessfully get the form to populate with "my input...

Re: Connecting to SQL Server. - Adobe LiveCycle 08-01-2009
I assume that you have set up the data connection and that you named this data connection "DataConnection" and bound the fields that you want to see information in. I know these are basic questions, but when I'm frusterated, I sometimes forget the simplest things. These are some simple things that I have either thought I did, or forgot to do/redo. When I am in the midst of design and testing.Jenn D.

Re: Current Date Custom Object Output Format - Adobe LiveCycle 07-01-2009
I assume that you get this from Insert/Custom/Current Date???You need to change the # in the script to match the format you want... According to the Adobe help files...(search DateFmt)The following expressions are examples of using the DateFmt function: DateFmt(1) returns - M/D/YY (if en_US locale is set) DateFmt(2, "fr_CA") returns - YY-MM-DD DateFmt(3, "de_DE") returns - D. MMMM YYYY DateFmt(4, "fr_FR") returns - EEEE D' MMMM YYYY I don't know if you can customize it further or not... Jenn D.

Re: Connecting to SQL Server. - Adobe LiveCycle 07-01-2009
I have this problem sometimes when I forget to change the script Language to FormCalc. In my VERY limited experience, I believe xfa.sourceSet.DataConnection.next() is a FormCalc expression... please forgive my ignorance if I am wrong...Jenn D.

If ... else.... help! - Adobe LiveCycle 07-01-2009
I have a field that if it is empty, needs to be filled, but if it has data, I need that data to be left as is...I know how to write the if and have it fill in the info I need, however, what do I put for the else? So far I have var iVar=0;if ((ECR_Nmr.rawValue==null){xfa.sourceSet.ECP_ECR.last()iVar=1}else***and this is where I get lost... if it is already filled in, I need it to leave whatever is here alone***}Thanks! Jenn D.

Re: Access database connection - Adobe LiveCycle 12-12-2008
That is what I intend to do. (I do not need it to go into an Access form, just the database so that the information is usable for reporting). I haven't actually done a distribute/submit in Adobe 9 yet so I'm not sure how/if it differs from 8.0. If I can collect the 'submitted' forms and 'export' the info into the db in a sensible manner, I think that it will all work the way we need it too and everyone will be much happier than they are with the current system. Thanx a bunch! Jenn D.

Re: Access database connection - Adobe LiveCycle 12-12-2008
Not the way I had originally thought I wanted to. I have come up with a creative work-around though. (See previous posts in this discussion). I'm almost to a point that I can start experimenting with how DC can send the engineer's info to the database once they submit it back to her. I really appreciate you taking the time to respond to my posts. I hope you have a great weekend!Jenn D.
