HiOn this page: Adobe - LiveCycle Developer Center | Adobe Developer Connection it states that "The Adobe Central Output Server family is scheduled to reach end of life on June 30, 2016. AEM forms is the recommended replacement for most Central products. "It's not totally clear on any page I can find, but is LiveCycle (Workbench and Designer) part of this Adobe Central Output Server family that is being discontinued? We are looking into what tool to use going forward and are trying to work out w...

Thanks for that link - I've bookmarked it for later. The licencing issue we have though is that I believe our licence only allows us to create static PDFs so we currently have any Javascript that runs when the user is reading a PDF. It can only run while the PDF is being generated.

Internal Hyperlinks and licences

HiWe us ES4 produce PDFs and would like to have internal hyperlinks - eg: click on a heading in the contents page and it takes you to the relevant page. We've been told by a contractor that we can do this but would need to upgrade our licence to do it. We currently have the "Output" licence. Does anyone know what licence we'd need to do this - or preferably, if there's a way to do the internal hyperlinks on our current licence?ThanksDan

I can set it on that subform, but it doesn't break because it's inside a subform that can't break.

I tried the subform approach as a way to get a repeating instance within a cell. The table itself is set to allow breaks in content. Unfortunately for the subforms themselves the option is greyed out - as with all of the other cells.

It sounds to me like the best solution is to make it a free text field rather than a number field - and then either convert it to a number on the fly as and when you want to use it or have a hidden Number field next to it that automatically gets populated with the numerical value.

That is already ticked, but unfortunately on all of the 'cells' that option is greyed out so the one that is a subform can't break across pages.

Hierarchical Table?
Avatar

HiI need to create a table in LiveCycle which has a hierachical structure, so we have multiple Category items each containing a number of Groups each containing a number of Items.I have tried a few different approaches, each of which with it's own pitfalls:I tried creating a table where each row was bound to the Category level in my data and the cells were actually subforms. Then I put a hierarchical repeating subform structure inside these subforms. This worked well until I got to a page where t...

I've had to stop using fragments altogether because of this bug: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3117315#3117315 I think I did solve it though. IIRC there was some kind of pagination setting in the fragment or referencing form (can't remember which) that caused it to put line feeds/carriage returns into the XML for no apparent reason.Sorry I can't be more precise.

Unfortunately you've fallen foul of a Livecycle bug that makes fragments completely useless for our system and it looks like possibly yours as well.See this thread: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3117315#3117315If you ever find a solution that allows you to actually use fragments I'd love to hear it.Dan

You can reference an image from its URL, but LiveCycle is a bit picky about how you do it.Just use the following format:

It would be a bit of a bodge, but if the content areas are the same on both pages you could just stick all of the items from the pages onto the same page and then use javascript to make them appear or disappear depending on the page number.

Thanks Hodmi.I'm not sure how workable it is for us though. Because of the licencing costs of Livecycle we only have three servers. One for development, one for testing and one for production. We actually work with six environments though, which means we have to have multiple ones in each server (two on the development box, three on the test box and one on the production box) so we can't give an application the same name on each server. If there was a way we could keep the application name consis...

There's nothing server-specific in the code, but if I create an LCA from an application called DEV1 then as far as I'm aware it can only be deployed to an application called DEV1 - so when I need to deploy to an application called TEST1 on another server I need to create an application on the development server called TEST1 and copy+paste everything across before I can create the .LCA file.If there's a way around this I'd love to know (though it still wouldn't get around the other problem that w...

I don't know about checkboxes, but I had the same thing happening with rectangle drawobjects, and I got around it by setting the colour of the border to the same as the fill colour.

The only way we currently have is toCreate a new Application on the development server with the same name as the one we are deploying to.Copy and pase every single thing from the development Application to this new one.Create a .lca archive of the new applicationDeploy this new application to the test/live environmentThe big problems with this areThis method requi...

Unable to Preview forms

HiI have a problem with Livecycle Designer where whenever I try to preview any of my forms I get the message "There is a problem with Adobe Actobat/Reader. If it is running, please exit and try again. (507:507)", and instead of the prview I get an internet explorer style "This program cannot display the webpage" page.It also seems to often make the Adobe Reader open up.I am running 64 bit Windows 7 and have Adobe Reader X and Livecycle Designer 9.0.0.0.20091029.1.612548.Any suggestions?

Here it is.The report we're running is Reports/KnowYourNeighbour. You can base that on SampleData/KYNSample.xml.The process in question is Processes/EventTriggerReport. Execute12 sets the variable, templatePath and then generatePDF Ouptut tries to use that to create the PDFThanksDan

This is just a temporary method until I get it properly working, but I st the value of a variable called templatePath and then use that variable in the generatePDFOutput process.I know it is setting the variable's value correctly as I output it as part of the error message
