So to sum things up: The ability to drag and drop a livecycle created form was just a bug. You also say that this isn't ideal because the transition into an "acroform" would lose all scripting, yet scripts still function (namely the calculation scripts from our form). My question then is how can re recreate this bug so that our livecycle forms, dropped into a PDF, turn the form into an acroform? OR how do I create an acroform using the same tools I would a livecycle form? Livecycle versatility i...

So how did this happen and how can I recreate this in the future? Was the functionality of converstion from livecycle to acroform taken out in adobe X?I am unclear as to why this worked perfectly fine before an upgrade. This form does have to be updated from time to time. How will I update/upgrade/change this form?

So would I then be able to rip the form out of the acrobat record that the original form was placed in, save it as an "acroform" and then proceed to use that to drag and drop in to pdf files?

The drag and drop always took place in the pages section, yeah. "using an Acroform to begin with would be preerable, especially when moving forward"what does this mean for the work we have already done? How does an acroform differ from a livecycle created form?

Jono,If you would like to see Jono, I can send you a copy. There are no attachments, there is no fancy scripting because I created both the livecycle forms and the process of record keeping and I have only an as needed knowledge of java (very amatuer). This was very straight forward. Drag, Drop, Work. Give me your email and you can see one of thousands of examples of this working.

Jono, it was a simple drag and drop. The worksheet was filled out prior to the drag and drop, but retained full functionality (scripting and all) after imbedding in the host PDF. It was updated then on an as needed basis. Calculations still performed perfectly. The one problem we had to overcome was placing two of the same worksheets within the same PDF. We found that this caused them to mirror each other. Any information you change on one worksheet (the same origin file) would duplicate onto th...

it was not an attachment. It was a LiveCycle designed form that was able to be drag n drop'd into a regular PDF in Acrobat after livecycle rights were enabled. I am aware of the supposed limitation, but I assure you it was possible under adobe 8 or 9 (or whatever we upgraded from). The records are all confidental, so I will have to go through a bit of editing before I can send you an example George. Where would you like it to be sent to? I can give you both the livecycle worksheet/s and a record...

Yes they did. This was an integral part of the operation. If this was functionality that was removed, that is a shame. We will have to downgrade back to whatever we were using before (7 or 😎 to get it back. I have tried everything but unless I am missing something, Adobe just won't do this anymore. I can even provide examples of documents where this method was used. An entire record system was created around this. The forms we used were dynamic and created in LiveCycle Designer. They were then u...

I have done a fair amount of searching on the forums to try and solve this problem but have been unable to find an answer. We have for years and years been using Adobe Acrobat 8 and associated LiveCycle suite. We have a few forms designed in LiveCycle that, once reader enabled, were able to be filled out and then "drag and drop"'d into regular PDF files. An entire system has been created out of this function. We recently, in the last few days, upgraded the entire Adobe software suite on our server...

Is there such thing as too many scripts in a form?I'm currently creating a form that has ~50 scripts attached to a single object. So far the form works beautifully.I was just asked to expand the form dramatically. The scripts being used currently wouldn't differ much from any added, it would just be that it would be adding 300+ more scirpts to a single object. Not to mention a script here or there to about 300 or so items.I guess what I want to know is, is this viable? Or will there be too many ...

Paul, thank you so much. For anyone that may not know (script newbies like myself):In javascript an if statement has an expression that resolves to true or false then if there are multiple staements to execute they are surrounded by { }. There is no endif. So an if statement shoudl be like this: if (boolean expression) { do this part if true} else { do this part if false} The else is optional and it is the } that acts as the endif. Thanks to all who tried to help. This just brought my scripting k...

Srini, BTW I wanted to thank you for pointing me in the direction of preprint and postprint events. It was an option I had never used before, and seems to be where the answer to this problem lay.Paul, Thank you for assisting. Javascript console reveals no errors in the code. In my code, T1 represents the entire table, where C1 represents the checkbox within the table. When the value of C1 is 1, it should (and does) make T1 (table 1) remain visible, whereas value 0 renders T1 (table 1) hidden (at...

Here is an update:I have realized that to accomplish what I want, all I would really need to do is leave all objects as visible (in object palette) but then toggle their visiblity in the preprint event on the print button.I have written the following script to accomplish this:Javascript code under the preprint event of the print buttonif (form1.LabRequest.Diagnosis.T1.R1.C1.rawValue == 0 ){form1.LabRequest.Diagnosis.T1.presence = "hidden"endif ;This seems to work perfectly for the first object (...

the subforms were only added during troubleshooting while trying to get the scripts to work. 1 table with 9 columns wouldn't group correctly.the subforms will be unwrapped. But I am still unclear as to which of the scripts constitutes method 1 and method 2 and the function of either. I have to know as I will be needing to make things visible/hidden on print command later in the form, and probably other forms in the future. Also, using this method, the tables do not hide themselves on print comman...

Srini, I am unable to view the document you posted, it comes up as unidentified file type both in the preview and if I download it. Odd.Anyway, I took what you said and applied it to my form and it worked! Thank you so much. This was a tremendous help, I'll need to use the a similar process about 20+ more times, so being able to understand it and repeat it is fundamental. Thanks again. For anyone having a problem with this. Steve, I've gone over your example and compared to mine many times now, everything looks like it should be working. The only difference between your form and mine is that your instance controls are within your repeating subform whereas mine are in a different subform. Right now where I am at is: Repeating subform set to visible - Works perfectly, instance controls add and remove the subform as instructed, however it is initially visible. Repeating subform set to invisible - subform starts off in...

Steven, It works on your form. But it still does not on mine. Set to invisible, I no longer need to set a script for the presence of the subform, but the add/remove instance manager still does not work unless it's set to visible.

I have a repeating subform, complete with working add and remove subform instance controls. That is, until I change the presence of the repeating subform. The subform is set to "hidden" under initialize (event) and is further dependant upon the click result of two radio options. If the user clicks No, then the subform remains invisible. End of story, it won't be used.If the user clicks Yes, however, then the repeating subform then needs to appear, and have the "add" and "remove" buttons work corre...

That script does nothing as a replacement script or added to my original script. It still deletes instances starting at the top.Perhaps I missed something.EDIT: Added the -1 to the end of it and worked perfectly when added in parenthesis to my original script. Thanks again Paul.
