  • Michael, Although it sounds like you may have it figured out, I wanted to insert a word of caution. I had been struggling with the same thing for quite awhile. We tend to scope work yearly, even though some projects will go longer. So we need to know how much time has been put on a project, but only...

  • Make sure that your Project Timeline Calculations (Settings > Project Preferences > Projects) and your Schedule are congruent with each other. Earlier this year we were having trouble with timeline calculations and found that the schedule did not align with the Timeline Calculations numbers and it w...

  • Sorry to revive an old thread. I'm facing the same issue today and wondering if anything has changed in Workfront that has made this easier since this post back in 2017. Thanks in advance. Chris Jackson CheckMark

  • Thanks for your reply Doug. Interesting idea. I'm trying to work through it now. It seems like you're suggesting a manual entry here "perhaps you could make a once-per-year update into a "Hours Prior To This Year" custom data parameter at the Project level". Am I reading that right? If so, I'm not s...

  • Right. The Matrix tab will give me totals per project, or totals per project type (from custom form), but will not total both. The Details tab gives me totals per project, but way too much details about hour entries. So basically people can't get all the info they need on one page, they have to swit...

  • I've made the same report as an Hours report, and it does give me good results as far as filtering only hours entered this year. But it also gives me every hour entry on a project in the Detail report, which is quite tedious. People are asking for a summary by job, which I can get in the Matrix view...

  • We have projects that span more than one year. The Actual Hours field in a Project report seems to pull all hours on the project regardless of whether those hours were recorded this year. I need just the hours from this year. Adding a filter for Actual Hours > Entry Date: 'This Year' doesn't seem to...

  • I figured out what was going on. By default the Hours field is rounding to the nearest integer. So I just switched my Hours column to text mode and changed the valueformat and other format fields to "double" instead of "doubleAsInt". Hope this helps someone else. Chris Jackson CheckMark

  • Reviving an old thread. I need to do the same and I'm hoping someone has a solution. My problem is that we have projects that span more than one year. • I'm seeing an oddity with Reporting. I have a Project report setup to pull Hours on Projects and SUM those Hours in that Column. There is a Matrix Grouping setup for it as well. When I run the report it pulls in the Hours data into the Matrix view and all appears good. But when I switch to the Detai...
