Can you check if there have been any changes in Permissions? Do you have an XDM schema created in the same sandbox you are using for Tags? A schema created in the Sandbox should pull in when creating a data element.

Apart from Ctrl +Z, you can also switch back to the previous version of your project (you can use - Open previous version), in case the project is saved accidentally.  

If this is still not resolved, please log a ticket to Adobe Customer Support, and please do mention the Legacy Request ID.
