P.S. This thread started out as a genuine question. Icouldn't find the Flex 3 docs for DataService. Now I know thatAdobe split them out and put them somewhere else, so it's more of acomplaint. Why aren't these classes documented in the same place aseverything else?

That gave us enough info to find the problem.it. Thanks forthe help.For future reference, here's the override I did. After doingthis you can set a debugger watchpoint on someObj.managedByLCDS tosee what's going on. [Transient] private var managedByLCDS:Boolean = false; [Transient] [Bindable(event="propertyChange")] public override function set uid(id:String):void { managedByLCDS = true; super.uid = id; } public override function get uid():String { return super.uid; }

I see that temp.uid is this value:uid = "64DCDBBA-A0A7-7FA6-39B5-D385AF574CF1" Does that mean temp is managed by LCDS? It has this valueright after a call to temp = new PositionVO(); Backing up a little, I think that at the time temp is newed,it is not being managed by LCDS, but then later it is becomingmanaged because it has gotten referenced by some other managedobject. I'm trying to find a way to debug this and figure out atwhat point in the code temp is becoming managed, or what othermanaged...

In my case the temp object hasn't yet been saved to theserver. It has an id field but the value of the field is 0.getLocalItem(temp) throws a DataServiceError exception withthe message "null identity passed into getLocalItem".This makes it appear that temp is NOT being managed. However,the behavior I mentioned in the first message in this thread isstill true. Assigning temp.title = "hello"; causesservice.commitRequired to change from false to true, making usthink that temp IS being managed. So t...

We have an application that's doing this (greatly simplified) var list:ArrayCollection; // list of PositionVO service.fill(list); var temp:PositionVO; temp.title = "hello";The list is a list of PositionVO objects and it is filled byan LCDS DataService. We think the temp object is not part of the list and should notbe managed by LCDS.However, the assignment of temp.title makes the propertyservice.commitRequired change value from false to true. This makesus think that something has gotten messed u...

Suppose we have a series of fills:service1.fill(list1);service2.fill(list2);service3.fill(list3);etc. Is there any guarantee about the order that the resultor fault handlers on the clients will be called? Thanks.

I have a service that I call, adding a responder: var modelingDataResponder:IResponder = newModelingDataResponder(); var modelingDataService:DataService =EnterpriseServiceLocator.getInstance().getDataService("ModelingDataService"); var token:AsyncToken = modelingDataService.fill(myModel,clientName); token.addResponder(modelingDataResponder);This causes the variable myModel to be filled. It adds aresponder called modelingDataResponder which implements IResponder.modelingDataResponder is called wh...
