I followed these steps: https://experienceleague.adobe.com/docs/experience-manager-learn/foundation/development/set-up-a-local-aem-development-environment.html#stepsOn windows and it works. Then I setup two ubunutu boxes with oracle java 11, one runing the author, and one runing the publisher. Author starts correctly on port 4502, but publisher starts incorrectly on port 4502 intstead of 4503.The jar is called: /home/aem/publish/aem-publish-p4503.jarI unpacked it like this:$ java -jar *.jar -unpa...

does Adobe have a chat client (for AEM + adobe campaign integration)

Our org uses adobe campaign. It is thinking of using AEM for a new project. We could just implement zendesk or similar in the AEM site, but then there is no chat history in the adobe campaign side. This page:https://experienceleague.adobe.com/docs/livefyre/implementation/app-integrations/c-app-integratios-chat.html?lang=en#app-integrations Claims to integrate chat into AEM, but we cant see what the chat solution is or how it works. It seems to be embedding "livefyre". Googling this, its not a cha...

Thanks for the reply. The technical spec says min ram is 2GB, so I went with 4GB (for author only). Its only a dev box, so will only have me using it.

Well, after spending hours trying to figure out why the documented install doesnt work, I found by trial and error a workaround. running the jar directly always fails. However, if you first unpack then run, it at least starts. java -jar aem-author-4502.jar -unpackcd crx-quickstart/bin./start Interestingly, the unpacked version is different from the version you get when you just run the jar directly as per instructions. If you unpack, it actually sets the execute bit on the start script.

Yes, I already tried to setup the replication by hand, as it doesnt come out of the box as the docs say it should. I had to guess the parameters should be, but when I hit "test connection" it says success. Worryingly, it says success whether or not I have the publisher running. I set the replication target to http://localhost:4503/bin/receive?slinkg:authRequestLogin=1 and user to be admin/admin. I had no idea what "Agent User Id" was, so left it blank. The replication has enabled set to true. Un...

will AEM 6.5 run on openJDK 11 on ubuntu, or will it only work with oracle java?
Avatar

Is anyone out there running 6.5 on openJDK, for dev and test envs at least? Installing the supported oracle java on headerless ubuntu is difficult, with most how-tos using using untrusted unofficial PPA scripts. Installing openjdk on the other hand is a online line command. Will AEM 6.5 run on openJDK for a dev (non public facing) on Ubuntu 20? If so, is the JRE sufficient? e.g. "sudo apt install openjdk-11-jre-headless"

Thanks! I have imported the package into author. when I click on the "sites" incon in the author home page, I see some wknd site pages, but they are not editable, and not published. How do we publish them and actually view the resultant site? I fired up the "publisher" but when you hit this, you just see the same view as the author web app.

Is there any way to get WKND running locally without going mvn (which fails)
Avatar

We cant build WKND from scratch - it wont compile. Our organisation uses episerver and has several commerce sites with around 50million page impressions a month. We have around 30 episerver developers. As the CMS architect, I have been tasked with evaluating AEM. The content team want to be able to play with the author tool, and the WKND would be enough for starters. Is there any way to get WKND up and running on a local dev machine from pre-compiled binaries or similar? https://github.com/adobe...

I just want to get an AEM dev env working so I can try the tutorials. This guide simply doesnt work, and there could be any number of reasons. There is one other guide, but its for the cloud version. I have been given AEM_6.5_Quickstart.jar. This unpacks into a dir called "crx-quickstart". This is the non cloud version right? Is there any way to verify this? Strangely, the non cloud local jar seems to need a license file, but the cloud one doesnt. This would make the cloud version much more deve...

if you can build, and I cant, it could be anything. I may have been given a bad or wrong quickstart.jar, I may have a version of java which it doesnt work for, I my require an undocumented setting in eclipse, it may be different versions of the wknd project (I had no idea where to get it from so took a complete guess). I followed the tutorial to the letter, although it has several missing steps and critical missing information.

interestingly, this is whats in there now: org.apache.maven.plugins maven-compiler-plugin 1.8 org.apache.maven.plugins maven-compiler-plugin 3.8.1 I do have java 11 installed, but I dont know how maven knows where to get it from, as I had to switch from java 11 to java 8 to get the publisher to work.you are suggesting I add "source" and "target", but currently it only has "release". Also, the artifact is in the pom twice.

What is software distribution? It took me 1 month to get adobe to give me the jar and license key. Now do I have to apply to them to get their special version of java? This could take months also. Adobe should state up front that they dont support any java except their own, if this is the case.

In this adobe document: https://experienceleague.adobe.com/docs/experience-manager-learn/foundation/development/set-up-a-local-aem-development-environment.html?lang=en#steps it specifically says to use JDK 11, which I have. I have no access to download java from Adobe. I have never heard of Adobe java - is Adobe now producing a special version of java just for its products? Didnt microsoft get sued for doing exactly this?
