How and what would I apply and can this be done within the form or does it have to be done at the server level? I do have users outside of the company so they wouldn't have access to our servers.

Detecting "Save a Copy" Saves in Abrobat 11 or older

I was wondering if there is a way to write code to detect when "Save a Copy" is used in Acrobat 11 or older when saving a document? I would like to use said code to popup an app alert to advise the user, prior to saving, that using "Save a Copy" strips Reader extensions and that they should instead save using "Save" or "SaveAs". I know I can use the app alert in the presave event but it allows the user to save first before the alert is shown and I would very much like the warning to come first s...

Re: How do I make my digital signature unsignable prior to required field being populated?

ABarbuzzi,I have done this by putting a text box over the signature box and having that text box disappear when the mandatory fields are complete. I have gone as far as displaying text that states, "Until all mandatory fields are completed, the signature field will not be visible". By having the text box over the signature field, the user can't sign the signature field as they are actually clicking on the text box.I hope this helps,Joe

I could not get the initialize to work. So instead, I did the following:Initialized the page to check to see if the signature title field was null. If it was null, I hid the page.I then added a text field over the signature field that stated "You must fill out the title before the signature field will appear".I initialized the signature to test the title field for null. If null, hide the signature and show the text. else, hide the text.I then set a change formula to the title that said to hide t...

Niall,Thanks for the example. This code works great for a button press but I can't get it to work with initialize. I need to initialize the form with form1.ProcurementLetter_Page1.presence = "hidden" only when the signature field (form1.RCP_Form_Page1.Block_28.Suppliers_Signature) is unsigned. When the field is signed, I am going to use the PostSign event to trigger the appearance of this page. Unfortunetly, I can't get this to work using your code listed in your example. If I hide the page, I c...

I have a subform with a table in it. I have a two buttons in the table. The addTable button adds another instance of the subform (i.e. a new table). The delTable button is supposed to delete the table I am in. The code for remove is _subform.removeinstance(this.parent.index). The problem is that the remove button always removes the first table and not the table specific to itself:Example 1: have table 1 and add another table. Hit delete on table 2 and it deletes table 1. Hit delete on Table 1 an...

Digital Signatures and Table Row Add/Delete
Avatar

I have a table that I want to add or delete rows but one of the cells in the row is a signature field; that column, always has a signature field. In the past, I have noticed that Adobe Livecycle Designer prevents the typical add or delete function (.addinstance(0)) when a digital signature field is present. I was wondering if there is a work around. One thought I had was having say 15 rows but hiding 10 of them. The add button would unhide the hidden rows up to the 15 total rows. The delete butt...

I think I have run into this before. If you have a static form that won't let you save as dynamic; try creating a new dynamic form and copying over all the info. Even if formulas exist in your form, if you copy everything over, these should copy. Unless your form is huge, this should be realitvely simple.Mallard27

I was wondering if someone could provide me with the syntax for formcalc for the following javascript. This is used to hide or make visible 2 fields based on a value in a drop down list:switch(xfa.event.newText) { case 'A - Approved': form1.Page1.2nd_Title.presence = "visible"; form1.Page1.2nd_Signature.presence = "visible"; break; default: form1.Page1.2nd_Title.presence = "hidden"; form1.Page1.2nd_Signature.presence = "hidden"; break;}Thanks,Mallard27

Where you do the calculation is up to you but I am not sure I would put it on the master page; I would personally stick to the design view page.--------Below is the code-------var phrtotal = 0; for (i=0; i < form1.Analysis_Page_3.Analysis_Summary._Analysis.count; i++) { if (Analysis_Summary.resolveNode("Analysis[" + i + "].Proposed").rawValue) { phrtotal = phrtotal + parseFloa...

You state that you have "Multiple lines" checked but you don't get multiple lines. Does this mean you don't see visually mulitple lines or you have tested the form and you can't enter in multiple lines? If you are wanting the field to expand as you type, please check out my solution here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/832659?tstart=0.Mallard27

Re: Add Row and Delete Row Buttons

Connie,For question 1: Yes, and no: you can locate the "add" button anywhere you would like. However, the "delete" button should be within the row you want to delete so that you delete that specific row. The add button will add to the end of the table and I have never been able to get it to add between fields; so placement of this doesn't matter. The syntax of the add button is simply a click script with:TableName._Row you want to repeat name.addInstance(0); (this is javascript). Example, Table ...

Flat Stick,Could you clarify the problem for me? Is the issue that you don't have tabbed fields in your beautiful form or the tabs aren't working correctly? It sounds like you created the form in LiveCycle Designer, is that correct?LiveCycle Designer allows you to set the tabbed order of the fields, so if you used this from the beginning, I should be able to walk you through this. If you used Adobe Acrobat to create the form, simply open this form in Adobe LiveCycle Designer; see more on page 11...

jbhoo12,You may want to check out this post which seems similar to what you are asking: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/332406.I am familiar with HTML and CSS and have many more hours under Adobe LiveCycle Designer. Having read your post, I would think it far more simple to create the necessary form in HTML and use a pre-existing HTML database option that stores the data for you. A 17 page form in Adobe Acrobat will take you many hours to setup. Once setup, you will be forced to write code or per...

One easy way to resolve this is to change your form to a dynamic form and make that field expandable. To do this, save the file as "Adobe Dynamic XML Form". You will need to change the layout of your form to make it Flowed vs. positioned but before you do that, you will want to prepare the form for this.Flowed forms layout the fields for you and place each field below the last so you can't control the layout. Positioned layout allows you to put the objects wherever you want with the caveat that ...

Another method to try is to enable Adobe Reader extensions. After you create the form, close the form and open in Adobe Acrobat, go to Advanced "Extend Features in Adobe Reader". By enabling this, you are giving all users with Adobe reader the right to fill out the form and save the form. They could then fill out the form, save it to their desktop, and email it back to you. This might not be the way you want to go but it works. I have multiple forms like this without any problems and am using the...
