Thanks for the reply. Note that the problem I'm having is with httpclient.jar notlogging.jar. Yes, I have tried using the jars that ship with FDS.I'm assuming I'm not at liberty to change any of the jars that shipwith FDS as I don't want to break FDS. The problem is that the codeI'm integrating in with FDS was built againstcommons-httpclient-2.0.2.jar. This call fails when it runs againstthe Apache Commons HTTPClient 3.0 jar that ships with FDS.org.apache.commons.httpclient.util.EncodingUtil.for...

FDS includes a few Apache jars in WEB-INF/lib that it needsto work properly (such as commons-loging.jar andcommons-httpclient.jar). I can't find a definition anywhere ofwhich versions of these jars are required. I'm getting theequivalent in Java of "dll hell" - a version clash between FDS andthe Java code I'm integrating into FDS, specifically withcommons-httpclient.jar. Anyone know which versions of these jarsFDS supports?

I understand that FDS Express is max 1cpu, no cluster andit's ok to use it in production. Are there any hidden hard limits to it's use? For example isthere a hard-wired maximum number of "connections", number ofRemoteObject requests or messages/second or anything?

Seth,Thanks for your advice. Tell me, apart from streaming media into a Flex UI wouldthere any reason to use FMS in a V2 application for data push or isit ALWAYS best in your opinion to migrate V1.5 apps (that useFCS/FMS for data push) to FDS2?GraemePS I might point out that this important topic is notmentioned in the Flex 1.5 to 2.0 Migration Guide.

Bear in mind that there are Flex 1.5 apps out there that useFlash Communication Server to do the data push bit of what in V2 isdone by the RTMP support in FDS

Where in the Flex2 documentation are the FDS config filesdocumented? (Valid elements, valid element values, valid tokens{context.root}, what they're set to etc..) The Flex2 Developers'Guide has snippets of these files but it's not a referenceguide.

Using FDS would be the far easiest way to implement a chatapplication.Theoretically you could implement a chat application withoutFDS by having each client poll the server for messages for newmessages for that client using HTTPService or WebService. You can also do "poor man's data push" using a long-lastingHTTP request - in this pattern each client posts an HTTP requestthat it doesn't expect and immediate response to - when the serverhas a message for the client is sends the response (perhaps a...

There's no mx:DataSet data type that has all thefunctionality of .NET's DataSet but mx:ArrayCollection is not faroff. In Flex, unlike .NET, all data types support databinding(which is cool). I'm still learning Flex myself but I suspect, ifyou wanted to avoid having to use FDS on the server, if you were todata bind your mx:DataGrid to a mx:ArrayCollection-based data modelyou could subscribe to the mx:ArrayCollection's databinding eventsand synchronize each row change with ADO.NET on the server vi...
